I agree with the above impressions. As it stands, the main AI fault (IMHO) is deep raids into enemy territory. I'm talking division, corps, and/or army strength raids. I rarely pursue outright, as these raids are often so deep (in CW1 a Confederate army charged up to Buffalo, NY! I'm seeing similar behavior in CW2) that they run out of supplies. This allows me to hit them in a couple turns with a couple strong divisions and completely destroy the raid force, sometimes capturing artillery and supply wagons, too. (BTW, saw similar actions in PON, too.) Is it cheating when you take advantage this way??? Hummm... I just wish the AI wouldn't take these actions without leaving a line of retreat/supply. I'll try adjusting the AI through options a bit (more than I have). Other than this, the AI sometimes outright surprises me, however.
