I've been playing acw since 2008 but the ai's proprensity to send major forces raiding in the north made me shake my head.Jackson went north and besieged jersey city(an important target I presume) I removed it from my hd.A few years later I saw that the ai was being tweaked to address these problems I reinstalled.
The same problem persisted.I uninstalled sgsin.
then when 1.17a came out I tried again same trouble, removed from hd.
Now the ai is showing the same problems, did you port it over with the same problems?
This was a problem with acw1 why was'ent this addressed! You had more than enough time.
And now with the bsttle plsnner you are promoting the single player option.Which is broken as far as I can see with this ai behavior
Are we now going to go thru an endless number of patches to resolve this issue?Which never was resolved in the first game?

They are tweaking the over-aggressive AI now and it will be addressed in the upcoming patch.

here are the lines pertaining to the AI, for the first patch:

AI
Recon&Raid max distance from 5 to 2 regions
AI Aggressivity down, overall and in Mid-Atlantic particularly
AI dismiss brigades more often resulting in improved formations with more punch!
Optimized slightly AI recruitments

Still planning that for this week? I'm holding off playing until then, so very eager to get patched.

Read the last few turns in March 1862 of my AAR Pocus. I may have found an issue with the quick fix that apparently has broken event driven promotions. Mac is still a 2 star general (event putting him in command never fired) and the four promotions that are supposed to occur as part of war order number 2 did not happen.

Also Kentucky is broken (still neutral, no ledger options to deal with it) but I don't know if that was a result of my fleet units entering a river in the state territory early in game or perhaps the quick fix.

In my current game against the AI a large force under PGT Beauregard invaded Maryland, vaporized the Washington Bgd. and took Baltimore. I guess the over-aggressiveness of the AI is a problem, unless it works. It is certainly a problem for me!

@ Jim, can you pass the situation to PhilThib please, if this is an event, that's more his turf. I can also relay the problem if you prefer

Jim, did you take Manassasas with McDowell in command before late September. If you did this, you had no NM penalty for not progressing well in the war, and you had no change in command of the AotP. In that case, McClellan is not called to be nation "savior" and he is not supposed to be promoted to 3 stars. At least, that was the case in acw1.

Ah! That's an interesting factoid. I did take Manassas w/ McDowell. Wondered why McClellan never got the call. (In fact, this has worked out fine for me, and Little Mac is consigned to training.)
