I've just started " Turning Point " with another guy. He's the Japanese player and he sends me the game file and replay file. When I load it up, I get no replay. We both have v2.20. Granted not much is happening, but still. All I get is the little " Done " screen. I lost a P-39 do to air combat last turn. I saw none of that. I found it out through the intelligence report. I'm flying recon missions, unknown units are showing numbers etc... But still nothing shows on the map. ie, no planes are shown flying or crashing. I get no coastwatcher messages, even though I can now see ships ( TF's ) at Rabul.
The only other scn's I've gamed were Coral Sea and Eastern Solomons.
Is it normal in the long one not to have re-plays ? I've checked every setting and ran the turns through both my computers. Still no re-plays. We have the game set for one day turns.

Can someone be so kind as to explain this to me.....

Thanks

Clay

Have him run the replay and see what it looks like. Feinder and I have had problems in the past with replays not matching the combat reports or my views as IJN.

But, your situations sounds a little different right now. Keep posting and I am sure we can figure something out.

My 1st thot is make sure that your opponent generated the replay file on the same version as your are. If your version numbers are out fo sync (and if you upgrade versions from turn to the next), "unpredictable" results can occur.

The best place to start is to make sure all the versions match.

Just so the process is clear:

- He sends you the turn's "Save" file and "uv001_CombatSave.uvs".
- You drag and drop those files to UV's "Save" folder (I put a shortcut on my desktop, saves time.)
- You start UV
- You click the "Load Saved Game" button
- You click the "001 Combat Save"
- You click the "Select Saved Game"

and you get no replay?

Dadman..... In the last 4 PBEM games I've played, I've always just hit the saved file, not the replay. It has always loaded the re-play by itself. I've never had to load the " combat-save" first.
I know that sounds ***-backwards, but it worked in the past.

I will give it a try.....

When playing as Japan, you only need to deal with 1 file in PBeM. The Combat Save is generated (and automatically executed) when the Japanese Player loads his turn. He must send the newly saved turn and the Combat Save to the Allied Player, who then runs the replay, followed by the process outlined above.

To my knowledge, as PBeM Allied Player, the game never automatically ran a replay.

Hi, As Dadman says, that automatic replay for the Japanese is not a replay but the turn being resolved. This creates a replay file
(combatsave001) that the allied player has to load and watch before loading the actual game file.
