I`ve tried a few different database entries to add a sea oil well, but keep getting the error message that the placement appears to be under the water, "placement aborted", but I want it to be in the water. Any ideas which database entry I should be using ? Thanks

Not claiming any expertise here but you may need to make it a surface platform without engines - i.e., speed = 0

Hi Paul

Oil platforms are modeled as ships in the game. A DZ has shown there are bunch of them in the db.

I would have thought there'd be a few in the Khark Island Raid scenario...

Btw, is there any way to model something like rescue rafts, or a bailed out pilot swimming in the water? It would have to be "picked up" by a SAR helicopter, did anyone try something like this yet? I'm thinking of teleporting in a platform and just calling it "Pilot" or something like that, but maybe there's a better way.

Not yet. Best bet is teleport for now.

Well then, maybe you can put it on your list for a DB update.

It would be a very small, immobile surface contact, with a large visual signature to simulate the bright color and things like signal flares. You could also put a kind of "radar" on it to simulate a rescue beacon that can be picked up by ESM sensors.
