I've been working on overcoming the game's learning curve and one of the big problems I've been having is dealing with waypoints. I understand how they work, but I have two questions:

1. Sometimes I'll click to move a waypoint and I'll end up "pulling taffy" -- that is, I'll try to move one, but I'll just end up spawning a new one that leads away from the waypoint I tried to move. I'll keep trying to adjust course but in the end I'll just have one big, frustrating spiky thing all over the map. Any tips for dealing with that?

2. The best way to deal with mislaid waypoints would seem to be to delete them, but I can't find any way to do that. Is it possible?

Right click on the way point to select it (turns yellow) and hit the delete key or better yet hit the F3 key to start the plot again from that selected point.

We are resting from a few days but would like to do a few more things with waypoints.
