One answer for all your questions.

YES!

The OOB is complete for all fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

Jets are modeled.

Helicopters are modeled with the single exception that you can't do airmobile assault YET. Yes, we know you all want to. We want to as well!! The first expansion module, at this moment, is all about airmobile operations so that is very high on our list of things to make happen.

Radars work.

Sensors work. One of the most disconcerting things to have happen to you is to have one of your helicopters 'painted' by enemy radar units. That gives me a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach until I either neutralize that threat or it gets my helo.

The one thing that is not modeled is air to air combat between FIXED WING AIRCRAFT. There is no air superiority model in the game. The scenario designer fixes that with the allocation of air assets to each side as they see fit.

There is often air superiority struggles on the map between helicopter units. They will hunt and attack each other.

Good Hunting.

To see the list of aircraft and helicopters see the Equipment List thread.

The game uses close support aircraft and some level bombers to conduct air strikes during the game. The units will be scenario specific and you as the commander can order the location of the strike. Helicopters both attack and recon are on map assets that you move similar to other ground units.

There are active air search radars, radar warning receivers, decoys, and jammers modeled in game and they are effected by crew training, readiness, morale, technology rating of the country and weather (to name a few factors). In some cases you will see a unit pop on the map with a NATO radar symbol indicating an emitting radar system.

Here are radar tranmitters that are actively engaging their search radar on the map.

Not to mention 3 different types of Soviet helicopters in their battle formation.

Good Hunting.

Looks good !

I just finished the tutorial scenario and I greatly enjoyed it (particularly my helo :-),). I had good fun.

So far the game looks great and I have the same feel I had with FPG. I love thee uncertainty in orders execution due to combat stress and the rest.

But this time, the game is HUGE as compared to the original FPG. Very promising.
Especially if it's moddable and if the devs go on improving the game over time.

Great to hear that airmobile operations will be covered in the future. I messed around with the American data file and attached a National Guard Infantry squad with a single UH-1 utility chopper. The results were interesting.

Having MI-8's, UH-60's and CH-53's mounting airmobile insertions will add a whole new dimension to the game.

I would think very interesting. Air mobile operations will require a whole new code mechanic to deal with drop and pick up missions. Should be fun though.

Hi Capn Darwin / Mad Russian:

I hope you include the capability to transport a USMC MEU from LHA/LHD class ships. If you move to a more modern age than the current 1989 era, it would also be cool to have Littoral operations with anti-access technologies such as shore-based anti-ship missiles, including mine warfare that would need the presence of Unmanned Systems for mine clearing ops and ISR. How about asymmetric opponents and Special Operations Forces? So many options!

With regards to the actual game: I have been unable to classify contacts based on the signals/emissions coming from their sensors. An ESM/EW suite (ground-based or an A/C or helo RWR) should be able to perform this. Will something like this be added in future updates?

Thank you
-Enrique

Actual ships in the game are probably not going to happen.

This is a land combat game. Ships are far outside the scope of that model. To have the actual ship on the map most of the map would have to be water. (The ship isn't going to be 100 meters off shore.)

What you will see will be helicopters doing airmobile. Those may start on the edge of the map and represent the mission originating on a ship or anywhere else.

Good Hunting.
