I love it. The best PC wargame I ever played.

And I started years ago (my first PC video game purchased was CIV 1 [not a pure wargame but certainly a revelation }

Then I purchased hundreds of wargames including lots of Matrix games.

Curiously (or not) I remember the great Flashpoint Germany as one of my best war-gaming experience (despite some flaws and simplicity of course).

But now, with this sequel, I am literally atomized, pulverized ! and when I'm thinking on FCRS improvement potential I simply wanna cry from happiness

I LOVE THIS GAME and I had to say it LOUD !

Thanks to the devs. You guys deserve (at least) a Nobel Price ;-0

Well without resorting to spamming try and get the word out about how great it is! Really it should be seen as one of Slitherines top games and take pride of place up their with the best of them in their catalogue (WitP, WITE, Command Ops, Panzer Corps etc)..it may have been overshadowed by Command as it was released not long after..which is a shame. I do hope Slitherine go all out in promoting the game as it certainly deserves it.

Just registered to share the enthusiasm, this game is indeed FANTASTIC. Even though, like some others, i'm a ww2 nut and not such a great fan of the cold war period, i find myself having a rare amount of enjoyment playing this game. It's a true gem and i hope that the ww2 version is still planned.
In itself, this game is already pure bliss anyway. VERY VERY well done gents!!

Thanks for the kind words. We have a very good team and very good testers and we plan to add to the system as we go.

Well, I'm not that enthusiastic about WW2 games as there are already xillions of available WW2 games in the market. In one word : WW2 sucks. We all know the story. We need new emotions.

WW3 and modern theater games are VERY rare and as a result they are exciting.
Let's Flashpoint remain a pure modern times wargame.

I personally would not buy another WW2 game, even if it's a Flashpoint franchise.

Let's go modern. Let's plan WW3 and forget about WW2. Then we'll have to think about WW4, which might be a stone and hammers age wargame. :-((

Right now the engine is focused for cold war to near modern times use. The engine would need a scale change and some internal rewiring to run WW2 but its not out of the realm of reason in the future assuming this series does well and we cover all of the intended ground first.

Done right we can cover hammers, axes and spears, or a more Mad Max post-apocalyptic setting.

I hope to purchase this game soon. I held back last week because of work issues and now am paying for a new transmission for my wife's vehicle so I will be broke for a little while. I keep reading these forums about how great this game is and can't wait. Hopefully, soon I will be able to put my two cents in too about my playing experience.

Maybe someone would take a WW2 version on..similar to what Bil is doing for tactical version of Command Ops? Combat Mission also have different teams doing different games in the series..

You could concentrate on Modern..someone else WW2 and someone else Sci Fi etc etc..

Agreed.

I wouldn't have purchased this game if it were set in WW2. Fortunately it's not. I hope the OTS guys hold with the WW3 theme for awhile.

There are massive quantities of WW2 titles out there, of all genres. We're quite full-up.

I agree finish of this Cold War gone hot scenario..add more nations\units. Maybe a Winter campaign or an Invasion of Alaska or Finland. I'd then love to see Vietnam when air mobile operations are a feature. Or go with a not to far off war say set in Korea. Have zero interest in a Middle East game, and will probably let that one pass by when it's finally made.

However at some point I really would like to see this engine do East Front WW2, Sci Fi (think Military Sci Fi or go for a WH40K like setting). Lets remember doing a WW2 game will bring in the money and keep OTS going so they can then continue making non WW2 games aswell. Also there is no game out there that plays like this that is set during WW2, so I see no problem in making one. Yes there are loads of WW2 games, but lets be honest 95% of them aren't worth mentioning or it's same old same old when it comes to gameplay.

The really great thing about this system is it doesn't have to be held to any particular time period. It can accommodate them all. The only thing holding us back is time. Since we all have full time jobs they can get annoying.

Good Hunting.

Surely now you know the engine you'd buy a WW2 game if they made one?

As long as the games are innovative and not the same old same old I see no problem in buying and playing more WW2 games. The trouble is so many are similar to the previous one..which is the same as the one before that etc etc. Give me innovative gameplay then I'm happy.

100% agree, I wouldn't have purchased either.

Tons of modern conflicts that would be a great addition, as well as a-historical "what if" scenarios. Wait... aren't we...?

Personally I enjoy smaller size scenarios, battalion and below.

It's the setting that sold me on the game, it having awesome gameplay is just the icing on the cake. I'm burnt out on WWII at the moment. The thought of more WWII games makes me go "meh", even using this system.

We also have to consider the potential of the game in hypothetical modern WW3 non-cold war conflicts;
- NATO against China+Russia in 2015.
- NATO attacks Syria, Iran + hezbollah joins Syria.
- Israel invades Lebanon
- North Korea attacks Japan and south korea.
- Pakistan attacks India
- Afghanistan war with soviet union (historical debacle)
- NATO debacle in Afghanistan
- African mess (the whole continent has potential theaters.)
- France attacks Switzerland (LOL ) http://www.dailystormer.com/swiss-military-france-attack/
etc. etc. etc.
So many interesting theaters. No need for another WW2 remake.

It is fantastic indeed. I definitely don't want to see a NWE WW2 game for a long time as that is already well covered by Command Ops. However, a good Russian Front WW2 game at this level would be a good idea too. It's the greatest land battle in history.

I love the game engine, with a little enhancement to the unit order functions (different movement profile for different way point, and implement order limit for AI) the game engine will be perfect for tactical combat. So eastern front, DAK, all of the middle east conflicts, more cold war, post cold war, if it use this game engine i will buy them all.

Yes there are a lot of ww2 games out there, but none of them use this game engine.

nukk it wont be a WW2 remake though..it will be a new game..in fact no other game if set on the East front could compare.

Still if it does happen I think there are going to be alot more modern modules\expansions games before hand so everyone will be happy. I don't begrudge them making a mid east game..even though I have zero interest..never understand why people begrudge others what they are into.

Facist..I agree not bothered about West front..as you said it has a similar game system Command Ops..now East Front would have me drooling.

For myself I love the WWIII setting. Since it never happened you can let your imagination run wild for what might have been. I hope they keep their attention on it for a long, long time. I want to see other fronts! The Middle East, Scandinavia, and perhaps even Alaska & British Colombia (echoes of Twilight 2000).

If they were ever to develop another game with the same engine in a different setting I would have to put my vote in for another unloved conflict, Korea. I think it would be very interesting to try the Battle of Chosin using the engine.

Korea 1951 or Korea 1989 or Korea 2014?

I've already asked what our data base looks like for the PRC.

Good Hunting.

Theaters that I have thought of: Middle East, Korea, WWII Pacific, Russia vs. China, China vs. Taiwan.

If only we had enough time and money!!!

I would vote for Iraq-1991 and/or Angola-1980s (largest Armoured engagement since El Alamein (Battle of Cuito Cuanavale 1987-88), .. and the last battles of The Cold War).

Cheers

My favorite theater would be a hypothetical large scale theater (through a massive campaign) which depicts a 2015 [NATO + Israel + India] vs [Syria + Iran + Hezbollah + Russia + China + Venezuela + Pakistan].

Yes I know, it's ambitious :-)

You fight large scale operations one action at at time in this scale.
