Just curious about starting Japanese squadron sizes in different scenarios.

Examples
F2 Tainan Daitai - Scenario 17 (May '42) 15 pilots@86 exp.
F2 Tainan Daitai - Scenario 16 (June '42) 22 pilots@86 exp.
F2 Tainan Daitai - Scenario 14 (Aug '42) 22 pilots@86 exp.

F2 1st Daitai - Scenario 17 (May '42) 8 pilots@84 exp.
F2 1st Daitai - Scenario 16 (June '42) 21 pilots@84 exp.
F2 1st Daitai - Scenario 14 (Aug '42) 16 pilots@84 exp.

From the above, I assume the differences would be representing 2 situations. The elite F2/Tainan reached its full (historical?) historical strength around June of '42 (22 pilots). The high quality F2/1st also reached its full strength in June '42 (21 pilots) and had dropped from combat casualties by Aug '42.

My question is that, when the OOBs were set up for the scenarios, was the impact of the UV replacement routines allowed for?

When you start scenario 17, F2 Tainan is at 15@86 and equiped with 8 A5ms. At some point it will replace the A5ms with A6ms (and probably have up to 27 a/c and pilots). Trouble is, the appearance of the new pilots (even just 7 new ones) will drop the squadron experience to 77 (at best). And yet it was supposed to be at 22 pilots@86 exp in June (in the similar scenario 16).

F2/1st is even worse off. If, during May, it receives the 13 new pilots needed to reach its June level, its quality will drop from 84 to a max of 68 (at best).

I'm not suggesting that they have to fixed. I'm just curious why a squadron, that the designers considered elite or very high quality in all scenarios, can never be the same quality (for equivalent numbers and period) if you start the earlier scenario and play through, even if no combat losses are taken.

Was consideration ever given to setting up the squadrons (in scenario 17 for example) with the same number of experienced
pilots they should have at their high point? Such as F2/Tainan starting with 8 aircraft and 22 pilots (instead of 15 pilots). The slow rate of replacement a/c should ensure that the extra high quality pilots would not be able to used till they were historically able to (assuming the OOBs are correct:p).

It would be nice to stop a squadron like F2/1st being a top gun in one scenario and mediocre in the other.

This is not a game breaker:p .
