The unit to be loaded must be in the same hex as the vehicle, to do this hold down the “SHIFT” key then click the on the hex you wish place the unit in. The units will then move into the same hex provided the unit has enough movement points to get there. This is also the same way to stack multiple units into the same hex even if you don’t plan on loading them. Vehicles have size and weight limitations, if you try to load a unit you may receive messages such as can’t load unit is too heavy or can’t fit the entire unit do you still want to load( if you select yes this will load the maximum allowable personnel onto the unit causing you to lose some unit members if there wasn’t enough room).

On a related note... how do we get multiple units into a boat? When a landing craft carries multiple units (the LCMs in Godzilla Island or the boats in the St. Nazaire raid scenario), they offload fine, but I can only re-embark one unit. (This may be due to the way boats load - they have to come to shore and load the unit, as opposed to the grunts clambering onboard as they can with land transport.)

Jus' curious, mainly... altho it *would* help in that St. Nazaire one.

Sometimes you can't upload the same amount as offloaded, because many times the scenario creator has edited the game in a way to use larger groups than normal for his purposes, by altering characteristics with the units. You can also try the same method by trying to playing with the unit upload sequence seeing if one units loads before the other allowing the additional units to be loaded.

Uhm, no, that's not it. Loading boats is a different procedure: the boat has to be in an adjacent hex, and is the unit that the "L"oad command is used upon. It then sucks the loading unit (my, that sounds rude ) up from the adjacent hex, ta-daaa!

Now comes the problem. It's got capacity still - multiple units came out, the numbers work out, it *should* be doable... but "L"oad gives you the message "CAN'T UNLOAD HERE" due to the water depth. And nothing will "L"oad to an adjacent hex.

Just did a quick and dirty test - I managed to get eight units (USMC Infantry x6, USMC Platoon HQ, USMC HQ) into a standard (non-edited) LCM, in-game... by deploying the LCM onto dry ground. (Might've taken more, too, but I only had that many there for the test. Hmmm. How many guys are supposed to fit in one, anyway...) They'll happily clamber aboard if they can be in the same hex - usually, tho, if the water's deep enough for the boat to be there, it's too deep for units to move into. ("JA Gun Team FLOODED OUT!" Hmm. My horses are full of water, I guess.)

It's probably just one of those minor annoying bugs that will be beaten out of the next product(s)... but when your points depend on how many units you evacuate, with a whole herd of annoyed Wehrmacht catching up fast, it's a pain to shuttle one unit at a time across to the exit hex. (St. Nazaire again.)

Ah well...
