The Subunit Inspector Window (hotkey: F6) stops showing after a short time into every scenario. It acts as if the window had actually popped up, since I can no longer click directly on the map and have to either minimize the game or click on the selected unit to get it back to normal.

The Subunit inspector window will work for awhile after I first load any scenario but something eventually stops it from that point on. After testing it a bit more, I think it tends to disappear after I use the 'zoom out' function on the game UI. My last test at reproducing it caused the windows to disappear immediately after I clicked zoom out once and attempted to use the rt-click command for the Subunit Inspector, so this may well have something to do with it. However, it could possibly have more magic combinations (such as having a unit selected that already has a move route while clicking zoom out, for example).

I've been experiencing this on my laptop with it's GT640M 1GB vid card running @ 1366x768 desktop resolution. At that resolution, I tend to zoom the map out a ways every game.

I saved a game where this happened, but the situation is initially back to normal and doesn't look like it screws up until I trigger the bug again.

I agree with all of the above. It does seem to have no logic. It works and then it doesn't.

Thanks for the information. It sounds like the the dialog is getting trapped behind the main screen. We will test for this and see if we can stop this from happening and let you know what we see. Sorry for the disruption in game play.

I can duplicate this behavior. It works at first then (I minimized and then maximized the window) and it stopped working. I can still double click on the subunits in the subunit window on the bottom of the screen and it works. However, I couldn't get F6 to function. We will get this added to the bug list. Thanks

Thanks for looking at it. I can't get the subunit thing to open even when I click on the images on the bottom of the screen.

Same. Once it's gone, it is gone no matter whether I dbl-click in the bottom window, hit F6, or use the menu at the top. Only restarting the program works (briefly).

I may have another issue related to this: My on-map text indicators seem to stop showing after a bit, too. The ones that tell you what the losses are during turn playback. I still see the firing lines and all the other stuff but the text on the white background also disappears rather quickly.

It very well may be the same weird issue and we will add the additional information of the combat hints to Rob to see if they are related. It may be the main window somehow getting stuck "on top" and causing the other windows/hints to get trapped under. Are you windows 7 or 8?

Sorry for the inconvenience of this.

I spotting one thing in the code that may be contributing to the SI panel "getting lost". I of course can't seem to force the error on my end thought to test it out. I get with Rob tomorrow and show him what I found on it.

Same OS as myself. I've got a fix I think. I'll see if I can get Charles to test it since he can reproduce the error.

Hi,

I haven't yet experienced the F6 issue, and it always seems to work ok.

However, I did experience a weird issue, which may, or, may not be related.

I was playing a scenario yesterday, when for some reason, and although the game seemed to be running fine,
.. I found that I could no longer minimize the game. i.e. clicking on the minimize button had no effect.

The game was playing normally, as I said, .. then, .. at some point I had clicked in the middle of the map, .. when suddenly the game started loading again .. i.e. another instance. I closed that other instance down, and my game carried on normally. I still couldn't minimize the game.

A little later, .. again when I clicked in about the middle of the screen .. the game started loading again!!

I then realized, that what was happening, .. was, that I was clicking on PLAY on the Matrix Launcher, BEHIND the game screen!!

So, although the game was in the foreground, it was somehow allowing me to click 'through' the game, .. to the launcher behind.

Once I closed the Matrix Launcher, it never happened again. I have played a couple of scenarios since, but always remembering to close the Launcher as the game is loading. Also, I haven't been unable to minimize the game since that first occurrence.

So, it may be related to the F6 window issue, .. in that, the game screen and/or pop-up screens are losing foreground/background priority.

Dunno .. it could just be that something went wonky with my computer.

Cheers
Tom

Tom,

Thanks for that information. I think that is a windows issue too. I've had that happen with other programs (not just games) when a click on the screen "goes through" an application and sets of a button or popup underneath.

We'll investigate this more.

I just picked up the game and i'm having the same issues as above. click through where the desktop icons under the screen show briefly, only happened twice. Tried to get it to repeat but couldn't. My subunit inspector also stops working worked fine at first then nothing, no idea what caused it. Reloaded a save and started the game from the exe. and it worked briefly then it stopped and wouldn't come back. Damn fine game....really looking forward to the mouse zoom

I'm running a laptop with a 2nd gen core I3@ 2.23 Win7 64 with 8 gigs of ram and an intel hd3000.
All my font and DPI settings are at default.

Thanks for buying the game. We'll be putting out a patch very soon. That will take care of a lot of these issues.

Good Hunting.

For those having problem with using F6 to pull up the subunit inspector I would recommend that you not use F6 for now and just double click on the subunit silhouette in the subunit window in the bottom. You can still check the Soviet's subunit that way too. Click on any NATO silhouette and there is a toggle to switch to the Warsaw Pack side. You can then scroll to the Soviet subunit you want to see.

As stated by MR and the Capn, we are working on a fix for this and hopefully Rob will get this fixed in the first patch.

I found a "fix" for the problem but you need an extended desktop.

Let say you play the game on monitor #1 then you just have to open the SI window and slide it onto Monitor #2. And don't close it, keep it opened. It will stay opened on monitor #2 and will be available working just fine as long as you keep it opened.

But as I said, the draw back is that you need extended desktop.

One thing you guys can test is minimizing the launcher program or just launch the game from the FPRS.exe in the game folder and see if this issue persists.

Just tried but unfortunately it doesn't help.

I was able to open/close the SI twice. The third time, the game froze during 5 seconds and since the SI window won't open anymore.

Are you guys including the possible fix you've discovered for this in the first patch or possibly a beta patch? I'd like to test it out & see if it fixes not only the SI window but the other possible oddities.

Hopefully both. The plan is to try to get a beta patch up this weekend.

budd, what OS do you have and can you get us a dxdiag file (post a link to the file so we can download it versus placing all the text in the post window).

Do you have multiple monitors?

budd, thanks for the dxdiag file. It will help us build up an idea of what is going on video wise with your particular system.
