Status: offline 		I'm confused about the database images. For instance, what's the difference in the CWDB and DB3000 directories? And should I just download the latest version of each? There are so many different threads with images in them Help!

Status: offline 		CWDB is the Cold war image database. It contains images from (I believe) pre-1979. DB3000 contains everything thereafter. The game checks the scenario, and figures out what DB it needs to use. Just be careful not to put CWDB images into the DB3000 folder, as both folders use items with the same name. Doing so may associate your F117 stealth aircraft data with a A1E Skyraider image.

Most threads are exclusive and must be combined. But some will be overwritten.

Status: offline 		Sneekyzeke-I'm finishing up the China pack and have consolidated all existing DB3000 images into one package. I'm hoping to get it released by Friday evening. I'll post on the forum when its released.

Status: offline 		I would like to raise another type of image confusion... I have just bought Command Air Naval Operations and there are no images included in the platform database at all, or indeed anywhere in the entire game

Now don't get me wrong, this doesn't affect game play at all. Harpoon's lack of logistics and unlimited smart weapon availability seems to have been completely sorted out and I am having a totally wonderful time going through the tutorials and generally getting to grips with things... BUT I would love to see some pictures of the kit that is being used

This is not really a problem with the web-footed fraternity that inhabits this particular forum as most of them KNOW (for example) exactly what an Arleigh Burke destroyer looks like. However I (as my name suggests) am a land-based animal and I would be very interested to know exactly what some of these grey pointy at one end thingys actually look like!

For copyright reasons we were unable to include images in the game installer. There are, however, many community-provided image packs which you can use.

This is one of the first uploaded: http://www.warfaresims.com/?page_id=1876

...and by the end of today we will have another one uploaded which (hopefully) includes all the packs that have been created since Command's release.

To use them, unzip them on the \DB\Images folder.

We're here for any questions you may have or any problems you face.

Love this game so far. I've been a computer Harpoon player for over 20 years! Sadly, I have the same problem as Pongo...Norton thinks the .exe is infected...

Status: offline 		In my experience, Nortons didn't like it because of the reputation score (insufficient number of downloads). You should be able to overcome that in your user settings. If the program doesn't let you to it, I would do the following:
1) Download and save without installing
2) Physically unplug your computer from the internet
3) Completely disable your AV/Security software
4) Install Command.
5) Reboot
6) Re-activate your AV/Security software
7) Reboot
8) Reconnect to the internet

Status: offline 		Two steps forward one step back... I have managed to unzip the images into the DB/Images folder. Unfortunately they are still not visible when I fire up the game and open the database.

What am I doing wrong?

For the DB3000 images:

for the CWDB images:

Status: offline 		if you can see the images in their respective folders, i.e C:\Matrix Games\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\DB\Images\DB3000, etc,
then load the sim and fire up a scenario, then you should be able to see the respective images. Check your directory structure.

Just noticed " C://Matrix Games//Command Modern Air Naval Operations/DB/Images/CWDB "
why the double forward slashes in your directory ? It should be a single backslashes. Are you using unix?

During the summer, I was in the Ukraine. I visited Sevastopol and went on a tourist trip of the harbour during which I took a number of photographs of the warships, submarines and merchant ships that were there. While I was in the area I also visited the underground submarine base at Balaklava which has now been turned into a museum. I took photographs of that as well.

Would anyone on this forum who collects images for databases be interested in these shots? If so, please tell me where I should send them and what kind of resolution I should send them in.

Status: offline 		I would definitely love to use your submarine photos! We have some serious underground facility gaps, but your ship photos could be useful too. Post them, and tell me how you would like them credited. We may have to Private Message a bit about identification of the photos.

I've got a dozen or so images including two submarines, some ships, a couple of shots of the Balaklava submarine base taken by me, and some b/w shots of the base that were on display as huge size posters which I re-photographed.

Where exactly do you want me to post them? I note that there is a photo gallery on this site but I do not know how to post to it. If you can private message me an email address I can send them straight to you. It would also help if you could instruct me how the private message system works

But I have this problem, I don't have the CWDB folder, there is only the DB3000 folder.

Status: offline 		Easy fix to your problem: just create a folder named "CWDB" an put it in the "Images" folder of the game. Then put all of the CWDB images in it. VERY IMPORTANT: Do not put DB3000 images in the CWDB folder or visa-versa. You will end up with pictures of A1 SKYRAIDERs in the B-2 bomber database entries.
