Hello Modders,

in the attachment there is the whole AGN campaing included. With it, you can build your own campaigns by exchanging the maps, or by expanding the campaign by adding more maps.

If you place the files at:

C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Germany at War\Campaigns

it will appear in the campaigns list and you can expand it, alter the existing maps etc.

If any questions occur, just drop i line and we will help out.

The next version 1.04 will contain more stuff like this, a manual and a new editor for events and the like.

Have fun !

Thank you Ronald for making this available. The game fills an important niche, when quicker multiplayer games are desired. Also, never have had a crash. Unheard of for most games

Hi Ronald,

I have been thinking of a "somewhat more historical campaign" including as many missions from 1941 as possible.

AA as basis, no change to scenarios. AG North can go all way to Tikhvin but must transfer its Panzer group to AG Center after Leningrad is blocked. AG South fights all way to Rostov, receiving Guderian's panzer group fro, AG Center for Kiev encirclement. After Smolensk, there is a choice to take Moscow in 1941 and that ends the war, or the player can proceed to Stalingrad and Caucasus in 1942. In that case the campain ends like OB, "you came this far but the Bolsheviks outnumber you and the war will be lost". Not easy to be a German general in WW2.

If the player decides to take Moscow in 1941 Guderian is somewhere around Tula and does not show in the scenario. In theory, he could reach Sepukhov with his mobile force but it does not matter, as the two panzer groups of AG Center will have to take Moscow on their own, if they can.

The goal is to include all historical scenarios in 1941 and the Stalingrad campaign in 1942. The player will get more points in this case as all historical scenarios will be played in 1941 and Moscow will be easier to take.

Hello Marechal,

1. I hope this was no aprils fool post ;)
2. The idea sounds interesting
3. One aspect cannot be done with the current engine and thats forcing the player to give away specific units

4. If you intend to do it on your own, thats a very big task, maybe a smaller project for testing the time and work certain things produce would be a good idea ? What i had in mind for a while was giving some of the small campaigns within the eastern front some intense thought and maps. E.g. a big Stalingrad with wider timeframe and one summer and one winter map as micro campaign.

Regards,

Hi Ronald,

1. No this is serious, I used to play with Panzer General 2 files before.

2. A 1941 campaign could be built using the existing scenarios; only the campaign tree would be changed.

Currently I can play AA like this.
Play all army groups until you reach Smolensk.
After Smolensk you decide where the Schwerpunkt is, and play that one army group in 1941.
Then you play the remaining scenarios in 1942.

What I meant is:
Play all existing scenarios until Smolensk.
Schwerpunkt. North cannot be a schwerpunkt because Leningrad will be taken by blocade.
The panzer group from North goes to Center and Guderians panzer group goes to south.
If you choose Moscow as a schwerpunkt, you can play the remaining 1941 scenarios in 1941
AGN - Novgorod, Staraya Russa and Tikhvin in 1941
AGS - all the way from Kiev to Rostov
AGC - all the way to Moscow, take Moscow, win the war.

If South is the schwerpunkt, you can still play all AGN scenarios, two AGC scenarios (not Moscow) and AGS all the way to Rostov in 1941, and continue with AGS to Stalingrad in 1942.

For this campaign no changes in scenarios would be needed, only in the campaign file. The player will get more points for 1941 but he will also fight more battles in 1941.

3. The player can get instructions "Move all panzer divisions from North to Center and panzer divisions x, xx, xxx and xxxx to south." Of course the game engine cannot control if the player does exactly as instructed.
And even that would not solve the problem, as Guderian helps to encircle Kiev but does not figth in South anymore in 1941. So "Move PzG Guderian to South and encircle Kiev with it but do not use it after that in 1941". If the player wants to follow these instructions, of course.

4. Currently playing with the editor, trying to understand how it works. I will let you know when I have something ready.

Hi Marechal,

sounds very good, especially that you would only alter the campaign leaves most of the work to planning & testing.
Maybe other players would help on the testing side, than it could be a realistic project.
If you need any advice in terms of the .cmp and .scn files let me know.

Looking forward to this.

Hi Ronald,

To make this campaign I need two things - the campaign file and scenario files.

Course of the campaign will be same as AA until Smolensk. After Smolensk the player has a choice:
- 1941 as planned by the German high command
- historical 1941 - 42

1941 as planned goes on like this -
AGN Luga, Staraya Russa, Tikhvin
AGS Kiev,Melitopol,Crimea, Rostov 1941
AGC Vyazma, Mozhaisk, Typhoon.

Before Luga, AGN gets the 18th army that was on a separate mission in Estonia. After Luga, AGN gives its 3 panzer divisions to AGC and AGC gives Guderian's 4 panzer divisions to AGS for Kiev but AGS gives them back to AGC after Kiev. The player cannot use Guderian's panzer divisions in Vyazma and Mozhaisk scenarios as Guderian is not there. He arrives for Typhoon, pretending that he was going to fight for Tula or move east but instead he comes to Serpukhov with his panzer divisions that are very tough by then, having 2 or maybe even 3 crosses. His mission in Typhoon is to take Serpukhov and then proceed to Moscow while the main force attacks Moscow from west.

The player will have a challenge to fight Vyazma and Maloyaroslavets just with 4 Czech tanks of Hoth's group and 2 Czech tanks + 1PzIVC he gets from AGN.

After the success of Typhoon the Bolsheviks are shocked by the German advance so that the war is over.

The historical choice 1941-42 would look like this-
AGN Luga, Staraya Russa, Tikhvin
AGC Vyazma, Mozhaisk (no Typhoon because Moscow was not taken)
AGS Kiev, Melitopol, Crimea, Rostov 41, Voronezh 42, Rostov 42, Maikop, Stalingrad. The campaign ends like OB - "you have lead the Wehrmacht as far as it went historically."
(both Rostov scenarios because Germans took Rostov in 1941 but Soviets took it back very soon)

The player will have a chance to play all historical missions for all army groups but he will miss Vologda and Arkhangelsk from the AA campaign.

Hi Marechal,

sounds good. As to the caampaign and scenario files i have to give this some thought. But i have little time at the moment, my projects use up almost all time. We are working on 1.07 and a DLC for GaW, so it would be possible to include the things you need into the former.

Still do not read this as a promise, its just a possibily with a high probability.

Regards,

I wanted to create a new campaign.
A lot of problem to begin...
First question: what is the meaning of "Global Identifier" ?
