I was playing the NM_AS Dawns First Light scenario as NATO.
About half way through the scenario sometime after 1400 a minefield suddenly appeared in hex 0818 in the middle of an impulse. It took out several M1A1s that had movement plotted through that hex.
On previous turns several mech and tank units had crossed through that hex without issue.
This hex is well behind NATO lines and it seems they would know about the existence of a minefield prior to the start of a turn.

Is this a bug?

I would think that the Soviet artillery delivered a minefield. If they hit a hex that has units in already in it they will attack them. Both sides can deliver artillery delivered minefields and the AI has no problem dropping them for you to run over.

I am currently playing that scenario myself and was lucky that I caught their artillery in deployment and shot them up.

When artillery fires at a hex it will flash before resolving the mission. If you have saved the turn you could go back and look to see if that's what happened.
