hi,
im new to this game and im starting to creat a 2D map.
i have gimp, the templates etc, but dont know how to use this exactly.

my first try: i opened the inputMapTemplate.bmp in gimp and used the COHMap Palette colors. saved the template.bmp as xx_input.jpg and tryed to open it in editor-parse input map, but it crashes everytime.
im sure that im missing alot.

i there a tutorial?
what should i do first, second...

i really need someone, who teach me to create a 2D map.

You don't have to create a 2d map first. You can just open the editor and start plopping down terrain features and heights. The 2d map import is neat though, and you can see how it works with the default maps.  You have to copy them from your COH install directory to your COH directory in your My Docs.  Eric explains how to do it here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3103006

The boardgame style maps are split into 4 pieces, 001 -004 with the hexes.
My best advice is to dig into the game files to see how it is set up and go from there.
Make note of the scale of the board graphics as you go.
Experiment with your designs and see how they work in the game to discover what mistakes you've made.
A little bit of trial and error, but the results can be worth it.

Are there any legal issues with redoing ASL maps with this engine? I am a great ASL fan and I've been giving some thought to reworking some of my favourite ASL battles to this title but don't want to get anyone into trouble.
