Hi,

Can anybody advise on troop recruitment and control whilst automated. It appears that most of these functions do not work reliably.

I've been experimenting with different settings but consistently cannot get the automated system to build and load troops.

Under Empire policy, I've set troop recruitment as fully automated. I have spare troops in the empire, that I had to manually build, but troop ships will not load automatically. If I load them manually, and then return the ship to automatic, the ship unloads them somewhere. Effect of this, is a huge fleet of empty troop ships, and a hugely complex manual process to load them and manage them to invade the simplest target.

Returning to the recruitment.
1) Minimum number of troops per colony: Has no effect I can find
2) Troop garrison level at colony: Appears to do something, but if I set to None, it still garrisons a huge proportion of my forces.
3) All recruitment levels: Regardless of level set, troops are not built for the available transports, and frequently all troops at a planet are garrisoned. Manually ungarrisoning them works for about a second, and then they're garrisoned again.
4) Default load outs do not always map correctly into fleets when created, but in any case do not ensure the troops available are loaded.

Final comment has been raised by others. I also see troops vanish. I invaded a pirate planet with more than 50 units. Captured the planet easily, then went to attack the pirate installations and clean them out only to discover all had vanished leaving a small garrison.

Generally, the whole troops system needs review. I expect the automated system to build troops to fully garrison as the settings indicated, whilst maintaining the minimum troops numbers requested. I also expect the system to build enough troops to loadout the available troop space on transports and other ships.

Fully automate needs to mean this.

Hi Donchik, I handle my troop loads manually but the recruitment is automated. I build the armored factory at a colony and it produces armored forces for me. same with the other factories. Try it this way.
Cheers

Hi General,

Thanks for the advice.

Do you have any other installations? If got both a Troop academy and an Armoured factory, or Troop Cloning facility and an Armoured factory at most planets.

I assumed I'd need both at some time.

In any case I'm still not getting much built automatically, and the controls do not appear to function as advertised.

Cheers,

Do you have any save files that show these issues?

Hi Erik,

I've uploaded "Dhayut Sovereignty 2199-09-24 (Auto Troop Bugs - Donchik.dwg" to the server for you.

It's one of the save files from when I was having the issue. It you check the fleets, you'll see the rounding errors in troop load-out.

Checking planet troop levels you'll see the minimum troop level being ignored.

For other issues, you'll need to tinker with empire policy and see what happens. You'll notice that virtually al the troop ships are empty :(

Many thanks for looking into this.

Donchik

Thanks for that savegame Donchik. Looking at that your primary problem is that you do not have enough cashflow to support your desired troop levels.

I've added some improvements in the next update that scale the garrison level relative to the actual troop levels at your colonies. In this way the garrisoning will never reserve all of your troops (even when you have relatively few troops, e.g. due to insufficient cashflow). Thus some troops will be available for pickup by your fleets.

Presently fleets won't automatically get extra troops unless Fleet Formation is automated. However this is also improved in the next update so that any automated fleet will attempt to load up with troops, assuming there's some available (and even when Fleet Formation is manually controlled).

Thanks
Elliot

Thanks Elliot,

Support appreciated. Is there any way to know if you're falling short cashflow wise. The top RH balance often appears to be incorrect due to bonuses etc. Can you prioritise Troops over Ships for example when allocating funds

Cheers,
Donchik

PS: Off topic, but is there any way to find planets that have been damaged, ie potentially quality 50%+ At the moment once a planet gets bombarded to oblivion by some group, its very hard to locate and re-colonize as only the current quality, not the potential quality shows in the selection table.
