Methinks the "WINCHESTER" thing is not a bug at all. I believe its a secret project to introduce pilot fatigue into Command.

You see, when pilots are fatigued they go for R&R in Winchester, UK. Nearby Avington Park is full of aviators relaxing and enjoying a game of golf at one of the numerous golf courses (and associated club house facilities) to be found in the area.

Going "Winchester" is, as reported above, a euphemism for "out of ammo". What is not explained is that once the plane is no further use in the battle, then for the pilot Winchester becomes the desired destination...hence "going (to) Winchester". This is also an invitation for the other three pilots in a typical fluid four formation to join him/her on the golf course later that day.

I think the real bug here is that the dev group have not yet decided how long after the 19th hole those pilots become available again for missions, hence the ongoing "Winchester" status.

Its a hypothesis...

Guys, help me a bit with this because I'm honestly not seeing a problem.

OK, so I load the provided save. Go to Moron airbase. Bring up the Air Ops window. I see a bunch of F-18s marked as Winchester. I select one of them, "Sqd111 #4". I click on the "Ready/Arm" button. The loadout selection window comes up. I select the "A/A: AIM-120B AMRAAM, Heavy" loadout. I click on "OK - Ready". The Air Ops window is refreshed and I see that the aircraft will be ready in 30 mins. I accelerate the time and the aircraft is indeed readied in 30 mins. (There is a UI bug here that, despite being ready, the aircraft row is still in red font, which should be used only for unavailable/winchester aircraft. But it's a visual, not functional bug. EDIT: Fixed in Build 446.). I select the aircraft and click on "Launch individually". The aircraft taxies to the runway and takes off.

So what am I missing?

Did you load it in editor or game mode?

This bug sounds the same as reported in closed beta a couple days ago by Maromak. I was able to replicate at the time. Unable to check right now with B446.

Thanks, I think you are right. I tried it in ScenEdit.

We're working on this.

Just to add - I have the same situation.

Hit an enemy ship with 2 helos loaded with Penguins. Wanted them to go back and load up Hellfires.
They land on the ship (which doesn't have Penguins left) and when I want to arm them with Hellfires I get this message as well:

I wonder how many times this has happened. I know since Command came out there is about 30 whales that are now lamp oil...Notice the date on the article...it took over 20 years to admit it. Probably worried about PETA.....you know the "People Eat Tasty Animals" group.

Lol yeah I actually didn't know that until you told me. It would be interesting to see how many whales have been sent to davy jones locker throughout the years by navy's around the world?

Any news on this bug?

It it can be found in nearly any scenario where aircrafts are involved and one type of ammo is not enough for entire scenario and you need to use different ammo. And it is really annoying :(

When can we expect this to be fixed ( within weeks? within days? within months??? )

Its been fixed in public build B460. I always found it irksome to run out of nuclear ordinance.

I'm reading 'fixed' so I must be missing something. What am I doing wrong?

Build 460 with latest version of the DB Tu-142 loading sonobouys:

Plenty available for the load out

Hit "Ready Immediately"

Boom:

Winchester. What am I doing wrong? I have no problems with other weapons systems, not missiles, bombs, rockets, or mines. Only Sonobouys.

Whoah that is weird! No matter the 'unlimited logistics' setting it should let you loadout sonarbuoys.

Well, I also don't understand the 9999999 loadouts available because I don't have unlimited logistics turned on.

From the same mission and same base:

Any way you could post a save for the devs to take a look at? The reason for the 999... is because you get unlimited sonarbuoys no matter the unlimited logistics setting.

Sure thing, its only the very start of a scenario build. I just assume I have some setting somewhere all out of whack.
