From what I have read, some optional rules slightly favor one side or the other. But what I would like is something simple to favor one side or the other, so newbie mistakes are not fatal. For example, one possibility is to add +2 to all die rolls (or -2 to some others). Or to have "John Wayne" US counters where all US infantry counters would have +5 to their attack and defense values. Or to give the Germans some "Red Baron" air counters with unlimited fuel and range. The possibilities are infinite.

Sorry, but more new features are not going to make it to my task list any time soon. There is a thread, buried deep in the forum by now, that was devoted to Common Mistakes.

Let's try the game and you will learn soon from you mistakes.

Anyway, it's fun to be playing Wif, so dont't bother about equilibrium, it comes with time.

I have also asked for some simple accounting of the biases inherent in the various optional rules. Most are probably neutral but some clearly favor Axis or Allies. Could we get a simple listing? Could we maybe get those biased rules color coded or something simple like that on the selection screen?

The selection of optional rules is robust enough to allow players to handicap other players (or the AI when it becomes available) simply by toggling various biased rules on/off. But... players need to know what those are. Veteran players should already have a sense of that. Newbies do not. So some community concensus of how each optional rule favors one side or the other, or not, would be helpful. Could we get that?

Ah good post, I missed that one. Yes, that's a good start. Maybe brian brian's initial list could get pinned and others can weigh in on it? That would be a good discussion topic.
