Hey Guys-

Newbie to this beast of a game. I've been lurking the forums and absorbing as much as possible without my brain exploding. (I actually think I've logged more time here than the actual game!)

Quick question: When using Tenders, do they have to be assigned as a TF in port to be of use? Adversely, can it simply be disbanded a port to effective?

Thanks in advance for your responses, and I'm sure you'll be seeing similar threads from me in the future!

Tenders don't have to be in a task force to function. Most do their best work at anchor.

The exception might be AEs (ammo ships) If Replenish From Port is ordered, the ammo ships must be disbanded into the port. If Replenish At Sea is ordered, ammo ships must be in TFs in the hex. However the ability to replenish ammo at sea doesn't become available until 1945.

Welcome aboard!

What NK said.

ACMs (mine maintenance vessels for ports & harbors), AGs, ASs, ADs, AV(n)s, etc. - disband & you can Fill Tenders from a button saying the same on the Anchored Vessels screen.

IOW, support & tenders can, and should, be disbanded, at anchor (not necessarily docked - I don't dock them).

All of which info I got from others here.

And at sea only replenishes 5 inch ammo and lower.

Thanks for the quick and informative replies guys! It's nice to see the board for an aging game still alive and well.

Aging game? Why, you whippersnapper - insulting your betters... (just kidding)

Seriously, welcome aboard.

I think you will find hundreds of awesome hours of play and some of the best advice and history lessons found anywhere outside a university (and maybe even better than...) on this forum.

The support for this game is unparalleled in my long gaming history. Enjoy and feel free to ask any question, somebody will steer you to the right answer.

I've always been a fan of this theater. I used to invest hours into SNES's PTO II, Koei being the definitive developer for these type grand strategy games in the 1990s. Seeing as work has been slow lately, I began running an emulator on my PC, and dipping back into the childhood nostalgia of that game.

THEN.....I heard about this monster! I have literally put in 12+ hours on the forums and tutorials, and maybe 1 hr of game time. Really looking forward to it, thanks again guys!

One more point about tenders - load them with supplies, and check them once in a while to make sure their supplies aren't depleted. IIRC they use supplies to tend to their ships.
