Is there any estimate on 1.9.0.12? There are several bugs introduced by the recent patches which require fixing (eg: clone troops, pirate fortresses and ship capture - not to ignore the others).

A WAG estimate would be nice.

God I'm waiting for a next patch so anxiously as well.
Checking forums every day just for that.

But the bugs listed by you aren't the only ones.

The one that pisses me off the most is about the starbases that start earing your resources for no reason.

It happens mostly with starbases that are Abandoned and you investigate and acquire them.

It also happens with pirate starbases also. Also Mostly when you capture them from the pirates.

There's also the bug that lets resources go under 0. Like.. -10k for example.

There's also the private AI that doesn't prioritize the cargo shipments efficiently.

etc etc etc.

Disregard what I previously posted, I always jump directly in this forum, didn't see the announcement about the server crash.
The data loss has been quite weird though, as there are still posts from 14th and 15th september in other topics of the Distant Worlds forum.

So, I came today on this forum and noticed several posts in this topic had disappeared, including one of mine. All those I could read were discussing about the issues in this game in a fair and polite way. What happened to them ? It looks like they were deleted.

That contrasts a lot with the image I've had from the staff behind this game so far, but now I have to ask the question:
Was that actually an answer to this topic ?
Is censorship the way you've chosen to adress the remaining issues in this game ?

As I am sure you are now aware, the server crashed resulting in a loss of data.

So, reposting roughly what disappeared:

It would be also nice if the behaviour of area weapons could be reverted to the original state.
The way they function now makes much less sense for those kind of weapons in my opinion. They aren't very effective and on the top of that, a bit glitchy (the blast vanishes when the primary target dies).

There are still many problems with character traits.

I've also seen pirate contructors trying to retrofit on planets I own with no pirate base there.

Boarding pods don't always reload.

The game improved, and I haven't spotted any really game breaking issue so far with the game I recently restarted with version 1.9.0.11, but there's still some work left to call the game finished.

Hi everyone,

I've been moving house, but Elliot has been busy working on Distant Worlds. We hope to have more news and an update by early October.

Regards,

Is it just me or did the last Update reduce the performance instead of improve it? I reported a performance-bug and my savegame worked after patch 11. But i started few new games with big and small maps lots of enemies and only a few band of enemies. Every time after 50-80 years the game performance is a mess... the game isnt fun at that stage.

Any idea?

my game is installed on my second SSD, my hardware is really good and before patch 11 the performance was not that bad..

As far as I am concerned performances improved. On a 15x15 map 1000 stars the game is perfectly smooth from the beginning to about 80-100 years. Then the Shakturis are there, it's a giant mess, the game lags from time to time. But it was worse in previous versions.

I'm not sure what this is, but it says "next DW release"
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3426398

Either it's a bigger patch than thought with added modder features, or it is the next expansion. Which earlier was talked about in part being a modder expansion.

Oh great. An expansion - while the existing bugs go un-addressed. Fantastic.

Erik wrote - "please help us by volunteering to test the next DW release". Note: he used the word "release", not "patch". That choice of wording seems to indicate an expansion.

*shrug* Time will tell. Erik is usually pretty tight-lipped about his business plans.

Me, I just want the NEW bugs introduced in 1.9.0.11 fixed.

There are more updates planned for Shadows, we'll get 1.9.0.12 out as soon as we can.

Just some additional news on this - we expect to finish the next Shadows update by the end of this coming week. It should be released early the week after, so you all will have it in time for the holiday.

Matrix doesn't have a history of pre-release information on bug-fixes. I wouldn't expect any details on what they're fixing till 1.9.0.12 is actually out. The best you can do in the meantime is check the tech support forum to see what Elliot has commented on.

That said, there aren't many games companies that give pre-release bug fixing lists.

Thanks Erik,

The visual issue of the influence circles layered over the content making it difficult to see things when zoomed out (particularly when playing as pirates) has been on the bug list since before the launch of Shadows. Is this still on the list? I thought it would have been sorted by now. Or is it proving too difficult to fix?
