I just got done battling my way through the UR Campaign.
It was awesome! I can't believe my performance go me all the way to the Ruhr. I thought for sure I would've been sacked in France somewhere by my commanding general!
Here is my question situation.
I had a core platoon of M36s systematically taking out some JagdTigers without any problem. My crews had plenty of previous kills to their credit. They remained cool under the pressure; however they were getting low on ammo, but not out. They had enough HE, AP and APCR ammo to engage any target for a couple of turns.
Taking advantage of the lull in their sector, they began to replenish from the ammo truck in their area.
While this was going on, they were set upon by some Panthers during the AI turn, my defensive turn. My M36s, cought with their pants down replenishing began throwing any round they could into their breach. Remeber, they had plenty of AP and APCR rounds remaining before replenishing. Every round they fired was HE which merely caused the paint to scratch on the Panther's hulls.
By the end of the AI turn, I was down to 1 M36. I figured that the resupply had messed up with the crews ammo selection, so I moved the ammo truck away before engaging the Panthers again. No luck, the crew still fired HE. One shot later from the Panther, and my M36 platoon was history!
Luckily, I was able to hang on to a draw by the steadfast peformance of my infantry.
Has anyone else encountered the above problem with resupply and incorect ammo selection even when appropriate target type ammo was available? Or, was this a feature Wild Bill was able to incorporate into the campaign?
Thanks!
