Indeed, I've always thought that chocolate covered brasil nuts are the acme of health food.

Neither should one forget Amaretto. I know it might fall into the "Sticky Brown" category but I like the stuff on the rocks. Plus, it's good for you.

*************OPERATION STICKY GREEN**************

Independence arrives in SF in 7 d. She will join Essex to form the Fast Carrier Strike Force. This means the troops at Victoria, Seattle and Oahu can start loading in about 5 d. The troops at Adak can start about a day after that. The mob will "rendezvous" in the Northern Pacific and then head for the Kuriles.

Shemya should be ready (level 5) by the time of the attack.

Rendezvous in about 9 days..then about 2 or 3 d until we are spotted..then about 1-2 days after that first landing.

That would make D-Day somewhere around July 1 (first day of Gettysburg)............but don't hold us to it.

This will be AFTER the landing at Okinawa, which should draw WJD resources.

Make sure they are covered with dark chocolate. Then they are doubly healthful.

1. Collect fish heads
2. Put in pan/helmet/empty skull with water as warm as you can get it
3. Enjoy.

Luzon, Formosa, the Ryukyus: All air activity is shut down on Luzon, Formosa and Batan Is. This is bad because Naha airfield
was repairing quickly. 30% runway damage yesterday. Hard to believe that was all weather? We do manage a few attacks from Horrycrappo-jima.

JJ tries to get reinforcements ashore at Amami Oshima? We find out.

Sub attack near Amami Oshima at 99,66

Japanese Ships
xAKL Hiyori Maru, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage
PB Nishho Maru
PB Kozan Maru
xAK Fukoku Maru
xAK Yuri Maru
xAK Tosei Maru

PB Magan Maru

Allied Ships
SS Sturgeon

Japanese ground losses:
8 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 2 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled

I wonder what "Fukoku Maru" means in Japanese?

Sturgeon lays some more caviar.

If JJ had any uncertainty that something was up, then surely this will look like an amphibious assault task force (which it is)...with a mighty seaplane tender as flagship.
I wonder if Hindustan is a USN vessel? Is there a town by that name near San Jose?

ASW attack near Laoag at 81,71

Japanese Ships
SS I-8, hits 1

Allied Ships
AVD Chincoteague
AMC Manoora
AMC Hector
APA George Clymer
APA Arthur Middleton

The SBD's from Miyako-jima find the transports at Amami Oshima. 6 hits out of 23 sorites does not seem all that good for helpless transports.

TBF's from Miyako-jima. They drop bombs because of the range(8)?? They do pretty well against unarmored targets.

First...the WJD's have 0 assault value...so it should be "infinity to 1" odds.

Then, all of a sudden, they find an assault point. Odd.

You know, a lot of people make fun of Mormons because of the "magic underwear" thingy but I like 'em.

They work hard and you can trust them. I kind of agree with Howard Hughes.

They also have a really cool genealogy site that I was goofing around with yesterday. My dads's side were real hillbillies.

His mom and dad were second cousins whose kinfolk apparently shared the same "holler" in Kentucky. Now I know why my 4th toes curve in.

Even worse, his great grandmother was Mississippi "Massa" Mandrake.

Well you can't have used an assumed name, so the site was able to derive your address so you can have a visit scheduled by a couple 'elders'. Might give you a chance to chat about the undies....

I'd take a visit any day from the elders over a visit from the IRS, Franchise Tax Board or the HOA Architectural Compliance Officer.

Miyako-jima might reach level 6 by D-day but I doubt it. Time to move out the medium bombers, which have not been much use
and move in the P-38's and Corsairs which will provide LRCAP over the landing. We have some LCT's with supplies headed for Miyako
so we can use drop tanks. I think the best spot for Yorktown is one hex East of Miyako. This might allow spill-over CAP over the landing zone,
but, more importantly, will boost the striking power if Shokaku and the CVL show up again. In her position near Miyako-jima, Yorktown can get CAP
help from the island airfields (P-47's).

One BB taffy stays with Yorktown for security and the other two BB's go in together to cover the landing, along with a CA-based and
CL-based SCTF and PT boats. If Kirishima shows up, two modern USN BB's should be able to handle her.

Coincidentally, I was just explaining the Sorites paradox to some folks this month. (in a work-related context). Not sure of the relevance to airstrikes, however. Unless you are saying 6 out of 23 doesn't seem like a lot, but would 7 out of 23? 8? Where is the line drawn?
