I have been trying to play a few solitare global war games but never managed to arrange my production as I wanted.
First of all the user interface is not easily understandable (yes, I have read the manuals and seen the videos).
It reminds me of CWiF (which I was a play tester for) and could have been made a bit more intuitive. But that is as it is I guess.

Secondly, it becomes particular difficult when trying to arrange the shipping of CW RP to France (lending) by using both
contries CP. If the game does not easily, and by easy i mean not having to tweak, reload or click on specific RP in a
particular order, allows the shipping of RP (and oil) to or from specific locations the game cannot be played. For
instance, imaging you have arranged your convoys for a particular shipping lane, only to fail using them in the
production planning. This is a game stopper.

Instead of having the computer do some weird calculations, why can we not make a choice to "disable" the computer and manually assign
everything?

Exactly! Since MWiF cant instruct my computer to properly "compute" an effective use of the comvoys - can I do it please?

Post a saved game with your issue please.

Actually thought the same but now I have it working very well, I posted this thread in the School section:

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3486698

I find now if you really want to change a CW to a French one than use the override setting for a turn and when it switches over go set it as the default setting as well. Also sometimes its not worth bothering for 1 resource when it wont make a difference anyway. I mean if you have a .5 production multiplier and you have only have 21 resources going to 22 CW factories than your still going to get 11 Build points. I try to set all my default settings to the shorter paths first ie those coming from the USA and Canada. Also try to avoid putting a convoy points for the South American resources in the Mouth of the Amazons sea zone until you have all your paths sorted out and locked in. What tends to happen is a resource coming from the US/Canada tends to take this path which uses up convoys intended for resources coming from South Africa and beyond.

Sometimes you can get all worked up trying to make it perfect when you only really need to manage the CW and French convoys at the start and make sure you have them setup properly. I only use the Red sea via Suez for the French resource from Indo China. The CW have more than enough resources and convoys not to use this path. Also a neat trick is to sea how many sea zones a resource goes through. If it is using 10 convoys but there is a shorter path then don't stuff around trying to set the sea zones one by one. Set this resource to idle. This will free up 10 convoys unless another resource decides to use some. If it worries you that much just keep setting resources to idle until less resources than needed are reaching the UK. Then find the closest and shortest path resource and turn it back on for production.

After setup I rarely have to worry about convoys unless Italy declares war early or US starts lending resources. Just make sure for every resource the USA lends the French or CW add new convoys to the respective sea zones otherwise some of your existing routes will turn off as the lent resources will have priority.

The only real bug I have found is with the French resource and factory in Metz(Maginot line). Even though there is a resource and a factory there it tends to go off line and/or a resource rails there from another location and no amount of fiddling can get it back online. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have the same problem with the resource in Metz.

I also get a similar problem with the Italian resources that are on the borders.

You can assign the resource in Metz to production there. The resource to the west of Metz is then usable in another French factory for production provided that the resource hex is not in ZOC of German units in Belgium, since that stops it from being railed out.

Yes you can do this but for some reason it drops offline completely. Dont know what the trigger is as you should always be able to use a factory that has a resource in the hex as long as you have a friendly unit there.
