I still don't get the idea of calling this fabrication process "printing." It isn't really printing. It is something else. It is a fascinating and innovative technology. I think we have barely touched the potential of the technology. But every time I hear it called "printing" it just seems wrong. Just my opinion of course.

I agree.

Nice. If I am stating the obvious, I apologize.

If you are into that fantasy stuff (I am not) which also usually involves only a few units, then clearly this technology is as cool as it is advertised.

If you are into the world of historical miniatures (I am), this technology has been somewhat affordable to the general public around for about a year. It gets cheaper and cheaper and will be more widespread about every 3-4 months. This site only lists 28mm - that is huge in the world of miniatures as most use 15mm and some do 10 and even 6! This 3 printer technology handles these all the way down to 6.

The weakness of the technology for historical miniatures is that generally you need about 2,000+ figures (some have in excess of 10,000) to prepare for most scenarios. So you would go bankrupt with this technology even if it gets significantly cheaper. But if you need custom stuff, like some really good looking generals, or guns, or buildings, then this is really great.

I wish we could redirect our tax dollars that are spent on welfare and channel that money into affordable 3D printing technology for war miniatures.

Hi Wodin,

The ridiculousness of the statement is what made it funny. What miniatures wargamer hasn't looked at his budget and considered spending less on necessities to buy more of the little guys?

Regards,

- Erik
