My cousin did that in the USAF. I think she even did a government funded nursing program. She retired as a Major, I think. 20 years, then out in her early 40's with a pension. Lives in San Antonio and has PX privledges, health care, etc.

Never had kids, though, and the Air Farce told her where to go.

She also liked rock fights and sword fighting when we were kids. She would say things like "HALT!" when she wanted you to stop. Funniest damn thing you ever heard.

She didn't branch out into acupuncture by any chance did she?

Ummmm...I don't think there was any puncturing but I was kind of afraid to ask.

The DU has just announced she's looking into joining the RN. Just one snag - she doesn't know what she wants to join as.

Maybe as a competent aircraft mechanic at the BBMF? There's a right scarcity of those, I'm lead to believe.

My Acupuncturist is a retired Air Force RN. She doesn't really fit in very well with the rest of the Acupuncture world which is mostly Liberal with a capital L. She likes me because she can talk politics with out having to bite her tongue.

BTW, she is not impressed with the health care she gets as a retired RN.

*****************Pranning****************

Okinawa/Kume Jima: KJ is now a level 1 strip so we send in some P-47's to cover the landing of some engineers. Interestingly, the P-47, despite being a high-performance beast, is a level 1 maint. number and therefore well suited to forward fields. Washington will bombard Naha tonight then Massachusetts the next night.

Miri: Diggers attack today. Their disruption is actually quite low.

Operation Sticky Green: Still loading at Victoria and Pearl. Troops at Dutch Harbor start loading today.

Moulmein: Evidentry, troops are loading.

They new people next door replaced their nativity scene with a statue of a boy in in big boots and an oversized baseball cap swinging a putter. It's shockingly tasteless but at least it's mostly hidden by the $10K mailbox.

Could be a worse. Could be a lawn jockey or a statue of Venus with pubic hair painted in.

We have the advantage that we can withdraw the hardest hit units and refit them, JJ has to stay in place and take his losses.

That is pretty much what happened to the Japanese Army in Burma...die in place.

The landing at Moulemin will unhinge everything. I don't think they have any reserves.

Anyone ever notice the fishing reports are always better the day before and the day after you go out?

This seems cosmically unfair. I confess I do harbor suspicions but it might just be FOF (Fog of Fishing)

It might be analagous to our intelligence guys telling us we sank Zuiho on eight different occasions.*

*****************Jungle clearing, near Miri, June 30, 1943(c)**************

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: Look, Yossarian, don't speak to the Rajah unless you are spoken to.

Hirsute man: How do I adress him, "Your Rajah"?

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: Just say "Your Majesty" you crazy SOB.

Hirsute man: What if he doesn't speak English?

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: He will. OK?

Hirsute man: How can you be so sure?

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: Just trust me.

Hirsute man: That's what you always say.

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: And, your point is?

Hirsute man: Well, one time you put recapped tires on my P-40

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: I did no such thing.

Hirsute man: Yes you did. I think is was WWII(b).

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: Yossarian, you are the craziest SOB I ever met.

Hirsute man: You say that all the time, too.

<A man in jungle fatigues and a presposterous gold sash enters the clearing with a large retinue and begins to approach the two men>

Attendant: I PRESENT THE RAJAH OF SARAWAK!

Hirsute man: <whispering to MM> Santa Maria! HE'S WHITE! THE GODDAMNED RAJAH OF SARAWAK IS WHITER THAN ME!

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: <Whispering with fake smile> Shut up you stupid SOB!

*****************Jungle clearing, near Miri, June 30, 1943(c)**************

White Rajah of Sarawak: Mr. Minderbinder, I presume. I believe you called the meeting?

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: Yes, Your Majesty. Thank you for seeing us. This is my pilot and Vice President, Capt. Yossarian, USAAF, retired.

White Rajah of Sarawak: Capt. Yossarian, retired? Such a young man?

Hirsute man: <courtseys> It's a long story, Your Majesty. It wasn't so much a retirement, more of a killed in action.

White Rajah of Sarawak: Ah, surely then, you must be feeling better? Now, what is your propostion Mr. Minderbinder?

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: It's Sarawk Your Majesty, you musn't allow it to fall to the Australians.

White Rajah of Sarawak: But they are our Allies? And we will be rid of the Little Yellow Baaahstards?

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: Well, Your Majesty, it seems they mean to make it a Crown Colony. There are bills to be paid.

White Rajah of Sarawak: But...but...but....I am the White Rajah of Sarawak! It is my birthright! What can be done?

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: That is why we are here, Your Majesty. What is required is for the Japanese to surrender to you.

White Rajah of Sarawak: But the Little Yellow Baaahstards are crazed. They will fight to the last.

Man in in fine linen slacks and pith helemt: Normally, that is true Your Majesty, but with the proper alignement of incentives.....<he puts one arm on the Rajah's shoulder and they walk off to the edge of the clearing in deep discussion>....

White Rajah of Sarawak:....TEN % OF GROSS OIL REVENUES?........
