Global War - Internet Play – Ready for testing Round 3? (ANY NEWS ON Fixing these issues that make the game unplayable NETPLAY? 02-29-2014)

For anyone that had issues with the last patch. (& have a cd of WIF) Uninstall the game. And Reinstall from the CD. Then patch. (The download from Matrix did not work for me). * No saved games are lost.

My brother and I actually completed a complete 8 phase turn in Global war.

We had some issues with the start of the 2nd turn.

1) Initiative – the Allies actually won the initiative stage but the Axis ended up moving first. The allies in this case didn’t mind as they would have passed it to the Axis. But they should have had the choice. (Axis did not opt to reroll) [Makes the game unplayable]

2) We ran into an issue the Neutrality Pacts. When the German dialog box came up to pick chits and place then offensive or defensive Vs Russia. The Dialog box would not interact with me. I tried and tried to get focus on the dialog box but nothing seemed to work… I just started closing windows and hitting about every possible key combo I could think of to get the dialog box to get focus. (Even windows that popped up behind or in front of this dialog box would not get focus. I thought we were doomed to wait for another path to fix it. Finally something worked, I don’t know what. I got focus and picked and placed my chits… YEA! [if anyone knows what to do when this happens please reply with the answer, I fear we are going to run into the same issue next time this comes around). (Patch notes say Fixed - not tested myself until these other bugs are taken care of)

3) We had an issue with ATR Resupply. The game didn't mark the air unit used and it could repeat this every impulse. (We agreed not to but still)

4) Combat I did a 3-1 combat vs china. I had two units killed. I marked both of them and went to advance and all 4 units stayed alive. (This could be huge in gameplay as we had to restore to before the battle.) (Patch notes say Fixed - not tested myself until these other bugs are taken care of)

5) (NEW 2/6/2014) The Militia reinforcements purchased on turn 1 did not arrive the next game turn. In fact Italy, Japan were complete skipped in reinforcements (Only Germany received reinforcements on turn 2) (Not 100% what allies got or didn't get) [Makes the game unplayable]

6) (NEW 2/6/2014) The Construction pool had one side (Axis) showing the Russian Navel Units to come in over several Turns. The Allied side did NOT show these units.

Thanks for getting Net Play working… it is the entire reason we bought the game. Please focus on getting Net Play running.

* As a programmer myself. I suspect that the logic to keep two player .GAM files in sync is not working. I would work on a way to verify the file difference and correct them at the end of each phase.

Kenny

This goes to all folks having issues with Netplay...

Have you attempted to simply start a solitaire game and just email the .gam file back and forth?

To make it easier you could just use Dropbox to allow each person to upload the game file when it's their turn

For within the turn I'm sure you guys especially brothers could just do each other's choices when you have to make quick decisions like intercepting and during air to air combats. I'm assuming you can IM each other or team speak or skype whatever

Might be less trouble then trying to do it Netplay. Just saying

I would also like to comment on point 4) of the above poster.
I had similar situation with a 3:1 combat Finns vs. Russians, rolled a 4 and killed 2 units, however they were still there after the resolution. Makes it tough to win a war finding the undead.
The game was a Barbarossa scenario.
An additional issue with the scenario was notice of War, it kept repeating until I had clicked it 10 times with both accounts.

You were aware that Netplay was not working when you bought the game correct? Martix had this on the product page for the game

IMPORTANT: For news on the state of Multiplayer at release and World in Flames, please read this Forum post.

Numdydar respectfully stop posting replies to my post.... your comments don't add any value and frankly piss me off.

I'm trying to HELP get net play working by testing this stuff and reporting it.

I don't need your BS comments that net play was not included on purchase ,it defiantly was part of the package advertised... “TCIP YES”http://www.matrixgames.com/store/296/World.In.Flames

Yes that was what I was refering to. The bold print that was used made it look that this was something that you were totally aware of.

I'm sorry you would rather not have me reply to your postings, but, like you, I am also free to post and reply where I chose. If my reponses offend you so much, then feel free to use the magical Green button. I promise you I will not be offended if you do.

I know I fixed #2 and #4. I think I fixed #1, but I'll check. I've added the others to my list of things to try to reproduce.
