So is this game officially dead before it gets started. The forum posts tend to show it. Only a handful of posts and wants and wishes. I tend to believe a games popularity by the number of positive posts. Of course games like Rome 2 have a ton of posts but most of them are negative tending to say stay away right now game is crap.

I just bought it yesterday and played once and died quickly because I foolishly attacked a wrong thing which promptly destroyed my starting city :(. My second game is going much better. So far I am finding it enjoyable...to me it definitely is channeling SMAC.

There is much more activity on the official Slitherine forums.

I agre, it is a bit strange to have both forums. Some users are confused. For Pandora, the Slitherine forum is the more active one.

Forum talk tends to centre on forum or the other, even for post merger releases. That's even more true of Ageod where the product range is so distinct and relatively limited. I think it's mostly to do with which users found and frequented first - and to some extent their preference in games. They should probably just start linking to a common forum for each game now, certainly in post-merger releases.

I have nearly 3,500 posts at Matrix, but only six at Slitherine (although I registered over four years ago).

Pandora is a good game and will get allot more attention...for me, i (and others i think) purchased a number of games at Christmas time (including this one) and finding it hard to find the time for all of them including older titles.
cheers

Best purchase I made in a long while. plenty of gaming goodness to be had...and I started off the modding with a faction mod (look under mods). Forums are slow but the dev is certainly busy. Beta up to 1.18 last I looked.

I think an expansion or some DLC could spark more attention. It's an excellent game with many small examples of the talent of the team. For example the way cities are managed or 'operations'. These little things have a lot of creativity behind them and shows me the designers here have enormous talent. It's a small team so of course it take time to flesh the game out completely like they had envisioned...and it certainly does need some fleshing out (water tiles, factions, more research, more terrain improvements, more map options like a map editor and more landmass options ala Civ) but the base game is tremendously rich, the atmosphere and music just about perfect, the art splendid and the performance of the engine overall is better than in Civ5...as in my IMHO is the gameplay and A.I.

There's a gem here and sometimes for whatever reason gaming communities can be slow on the uptake ...

Beta?

I thought this game was released?

I was stopping by to see how it was doing and pretty much came away with the same impression as aaatoysandmore which is unfortunate since this game looked interesting.

Yes, if you look in the above threads there's one called "continous beta"....what this is of course is the beta for any upcoming patches. To get in all you have to do is go into the game's directory and run the updater...there you will see an option to pick beta...if you do the game will update. If for whatever reason you want to go back you can as well.

Please note that any mods, including mine, will have to be installed into the seperate "BETA" folder to work as well. Your see that under the regular path where mods go in your documents where it sits beside the regular release folders.

I think this game will probably go along the same route as Distant Worlds. Not a lot of people, including me...really were that excited on the intial release. but now that there's a number of expansions and a lot more play options and game depth it's a hit. Give this title an expansion or two and I have no doubt this will be the top 4x game period. There's really nothing here not to like...I just want "More".

I think this game is awesome, best buy in many years. Give time for the dev's to add content and we will have a winner!

It's not "dead" IMO. It's really good. There are some commands that it needs and a better manual would be very nice.
