I am running my first PBEM as IJ. I have read a lot of threads and attached material on managing industry. I was wondering if anyone out there who is experienced with industry would mind taking a peak at my industry set up. I'd rather not post any details--those pesky Allies will would love to see what a mess I've probably made. Anyway, I'd really appreciate it if a veteran could let me know how far off or on track I am. Thanks!

Jim

I'm full of bad advice if you'd like any of that.

Have you looked at this?

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3329605

I have some screen shots in the document that may be useful for you of Japan's industry screens from a Nov '44 and a '42 game that may be of use.

+1 to Numdydar's recommendation! It's got all the nuts and bolts of running the economy in one document. Good stuff.

Oh yes, that primer is printed and full of scribbled notes. Great stuff, and I've modeled a great deal of my industry off it. Couldn't resist going a bit off on a few things, though, and I'm playing DBB scen 28, so I know things are a bit different.

Pontiuspilot, I had problems getting tracker loaded despite several attempts and was planning on not using it. Thanks to my esteemed opponent helping me out I finally have it working, and I can tell you it is as close to a "must have" as destroyers are to an air combat TF. There are plenty of fine folks on the forum that will help you out, though in my technologically challenged state I needed some serious help.

The problem with having someone just take a look at your industry setup is that without knowledge of your future plans - like invading India, Oz, etc... or your losses, it would be hard to give good advice.. Everyone's play style is different. I know I differ in opinion on some things as compared to some other Industry experts - but you need to make sure your industry gives you the tools you want to use and gives enough for your play style. Some things are very common like stop building Nates :) and that at least half of all aircraft designs Japan builds are worthless... but just because someone else doesn't like the George doesn't mean you can't use it - and use it alot.

Very true Xargun. I'm just looking for someone to be able to tell me if I've committed some huge mistakes and will run the place dry in a year. PWS1225 is taking a look for me, so hopefully he won't see anything Earth shattering.

I've been toying with the idea of chopping all floatplane production except the Glen and the best of the rest. Ditto with the IJAAF single engine bombers. I'm guessing taking a machete to it would disrupt the supply situation.

PWS was kind enough to re-direct me down the straigtht and narrow path of redemption....thanks to all and PWS in particular! I guess I actually wasn't that far off with my takeon things. I had read the thread above already and it is helpful.

Does anybody have the "Japanese AC Wire Chart" in a file format that they could send me? If so pls PM me and I'll give my direct e-m. The link/zip etc do not work...at least at my level of competance.

That's right, just Glens til you run out of engines, Jakes and then Norms otherwise but do build Jakes. You'll need replacements and since most floatplane sqds. can be expanded via Chitose Chiyoda etc. You're going to need all the rest that you have for training, once you can take them out of the line. Use them to train for whatever you need, that can be sweep but cannot be TB crews.

Stopping lots of air production won't have any effect on supply, except indirectly:

1) Replacements. If you're taking replacements and upgrading units less often, that uses less supply.

2) Factory expansion. If you aren't expanding factories for higher production, you aren't spending 1100 supply per point (and then more for engines). This can be big, but not directly related to air production.
