After installing the original, then the three expansions, the game will not launch. Whether I double click on DistantWorlds.exe or "play" on the autoplay menu, the game does not launch. There are no errors. After clicking, the mouse pointer simply turns into an hourglass for a couple seconds, then nothing. As if I didn't do anything at all. If I look on the task manager I can see DistantWorlds.exe pop up on the list of running processes, however it simply vanishes within 2 seconds. This is what I have done so far to try and remedy this problem:

-I have re-installed the game(s) multiple times.
-I have uninstalled and then reinstalled .NET4 and XNA redist multiple times.
-I have uninstalled everything, then deleted EVERY instance of the words "Distant Worlds" from the registry.
-I have updated my drivers, for everything.

Every game (Original, Shakturi, Legends) EXCEPT Shadows HAS run perfectly fine and dandy. This leaves me to believe that the issue is with XNA considering the first three games do not use XNA.
Also, when I installed the XNA redist, an error popped up during installation stating that "xnavisualizer.dll has failed to register." This separate, yet possibly related issue could be the cause, but I'm not schooled enough on how data libraries work to really know for sure. I could still continue the XNA installation if I clicked "Ignore" on the error popup. Anyway, that is my issue, and please do not tell me things like, "Reinstall DirectX, reinstall .net, reinstall xna, reinstall Distant worlds, or Update your drivers." I have done those things countless times and still nothing. Im not sure why a game developer would create a game using a data library format that isn't even supported by Microsoft anymore (XNA), but that is neither here nor there. I simply want to play the game that Master of Orion 3 was supposed to be. Thanks again, and please excuse my brashness... This whole mess is just starting to piss me off.

I would focus on: "xnavisualizer.dll has failed to register." I seriously doubt anything related to distant worlds (apart from it running the xna installer) has anything to do with the core of the problem.

Searching for the error gives various other people with this problem in the past, some of which solved it.

Did you try to start the launcher as Admin (right click at the launcher and select "Execute as adminstrator" or something) ?

Found a soution: boot up the game on my old laptop. Game runs like a dream. And holy crap, wow, this is the greatest4x game i have ever encountered. Its the game i dreamed about when i learned Moo3 was being developed. In my last play, whithin the first 5 - 10 years, I: accidently lost an entire pre-warp colonization fleet in a black hole (rafther frustrating considering the fleet had already been travelling for 3 years and was about a year away from its destination), I waged an all out, full scale, seemingly never ending inter-planetary, pre-warp war with another race i shared my home system with, i joined two other races in a trade embargo against a powerful, agressive race, then somehow ended up convincing the aggressive race to just declare war on the other two and wipe then out so i could move in on their tasty, tasty luxary goods that were in system that were rightfully mine. The scope of this game is amazing, and i still cant believe that I experienced an epic civilization vs civilization battle over my home system before i even developed warp bupple technology. Blown mind here.

Of course the game is great

For that other computer, I guess the ultimate, annoying, lots of work - solution is to do a proper reinstall. That should solve whatever is wrong if none of the other web advice works.
