Can anyone point me in the right direction of any literary accounts of this splendid little war?

Has Ambrose produced anything on this?

Sadly Ambrose never got round to covering this, the reasons for which can be found in his 1956 blockbuster "Why I never wrote about the Prussian Incursion of 1807". I will see what I can dig up, but from memory wasn't it all to do with disputes along the Prusso-Greek border?

I think that's the case; however Greece was just Monaco's proxy in this instance.

There's Swedish involvement too (Those bullying Swedes) - I really am becoming intrigued with this.

Yes it is - but don't worry I will do my best to get it closed down before the conversation gets too heated and people start acting arseholey....

Sending this statement to the Swedish embassy

There's Swedish involvement too (Those bullying Swedes)

But seriously more of these sort of discussions would make this forum more interesting...

Very true. Here is an extract from a conversation between Prince Ranier III of Monaco and the Prussian ambassador on the 30th February 1807:

Prussian Geezer: Why do you waste your time on Greece?

Prince Rainier: Greece is the word, is the word that you heard It's got groove, it's got meaning. Greece is the time, is the place, is the motion. Now, Greece is the way we are feeling.

Prussian Geezer: I feel the urge to dance - would you permit me the honour Prince Rainer?

No debate, just the facts please - this is a serious historical forum, after all.

We've a reputation to look after.

I cannot get any info on the Swedish involvement. Can you see what you can unearth or make up or whatever?

Here's an interesting little fact.

Lohanby Lindsanius, an obscure but powerful Swedish smuggler from the Goteborg area, funded a reg't of professional soldiers to go to the Greek border.

Anyone have a clue what he was smuggling? Had to be quite profitable.

There is a rumour that it was Lindsanius that brought Brazilian Peanut Brittle to Prussia in 1806. She could have been secreting a shed load of the stuff within her underclothes?

He was smuggling paper clips.

This was very profitable since they had not yet been invented.

Excellent work W1.

That coincides with the legend that an entire family of homeless Swedish peasants could set up house in a set of her discarded undergarments.

Things are starting to make sense.

Orm could be right about the paper clips so I'm all for rumaging around in ladies underwear to get to the bottom of this...

Here is Lohanius in January 1806

Just more lies planted by Stephen Ambrose to hide his British monopoly on the BPB trade.

Her reg't had 4 companies of regular paid professionals - and two other rather odd companies, one composed of Iowans and the other Minnesotans. Rather unsavory lot all in all.

So you think Ambrose didn't write about the incursion as he didn't want to unveil British involvement in the BPB trade? Interesting....

Yes, I read that. Apparently all the Iowans were related to each other, while less said about the Minnsodans the better - that is another story altogether.... Yuk....

He started the incursion to hide the involvement. If he had written about it then all of it would have been even more lies and that would just cause more ways to bugger the initial lie.

True, W1.

"Bugger it all" was not an epitaph you threw around lightly in that company.

Er Ormster old chap, have you been taking conspiracy theory lessons from SLAAK? The only thing wrong with your theory is that it is total Sloblocks... Ambrose was born almost 100 years after the Incursion

Ahh, Orm.

While it's commendable that you defend your fellow countrymen, there's just no denying Sweden's massive warmongering in the past.

Why, you even sent soldiers to the GBPBW!

Sweden is known globally for only two things - and neither are very nice:

1. Being a bunch of warmongers
2. Posting pictures of Aussie Surfer Dudes in Australian Beauty threads...

Hideous nation.... wasn't Adolf Hitler Swedish?
