PBYs - Using them as naval bombers helps, but you have to weigh that against using them to see what is coming from afar.

F4F-3/3A - The USN was short of Navy fighters until the F4F-4 came out in March. Just something you have to manage carefully.

Training Groups - I know there is a need to spend PP everywhere, but I would highly suggest that your Training Groups get moved up the list. There is a big difference in the pace of training with decent leaders.

True - the only Catalina's bombing are the Sorebaja ones and I already know where John3's coming from... I can't save them, so heroics are being asked of them.

Are you calculating the number of eight F4-3's monthly production from the Bethpage NY factory? Historically and in several articles it says all eleven of the Navy/Marine fighter groups were all equipped with F4-3/3A's prior to the expansion of the CV groups in 2/42, I'm not even at 50% of that. Over half of the Marines are still equipped with F2A-3 Buffs!

If so then let me have the Linden/Trenton NJ FM-1's that were produced from June 1942 until May of 1943 when the game introduces them??? That's almost 44 per month from the same BuAir production sheet...

Yes - I have upgraded several Training officers, There are still some that do not have high enough experience to be instructors - notably 4E instructors...

Never mind getting "Training Officers" just get quality leaders - High Inspiration and Air skills.

Not going to get a change in number of F4F-3s of any type. This is always the number an Allied player gets. I'm in mid-Feb and most have mixture of fighter types on my CVs. Focus on getting Air and then Straf skills up (increased Defend) until better planes come out. The American CVs have some good pilots on them. Don't get them killed this early in the war needlessly.

I'm doing the best I can - I'll try to get a list posted to paint that will be readable... This is where Larry's skills far outshine my pitiful efforts.

OK Folks - asking you to bear with me since my pix skills are nowhere near Larry's

I will post a brief update on areas and a pix - see if that generates any interest - since we dropped the ball, its strictly my fault, and maybe a little of Larry's <grin>

Midway Is. as of 2/24/42 Area is firmly in J3's grasp - I have a line of subs hoping to catch his CV's who WERE operating in the area... Nothing to report for past couple days and I will reposition them 3/1/42... I'm thinking by Pago Pago for the Fish boats and Johnston Is for the S-boats... Comments?

2/24/42 Area around Hiva Oa

This Free French base became the default starting off point when J3 beat us to Tahiti... We put several YO and an AO in here to refuel the AK's going the Southern Route to Sydney.

We have Air Transport 3 TF's of Heavy Bombers and Fighters going to Sydney because of the invasion of SW OZ... going this far south they need a refueling point.

J3 has this pretty locked down too, We were able to surprise him and damage some warships last month, but were pretty sure he has closed that barn door with air support.

2/24/42 Area around Pago Pago

We have been able to stave off 2 attacks from the elements of the 2nd Div. Not sure how much longer it will hold without reinforcements.

We were able to move the P-40's here to the neighboring Is. and the Vindicators flew off to Suva. Not enough air support to keep them here, the P-40's don't have the legs to get to Suva Is., so they are toast probably

Several small unit invasions of weakly or non defended bases... Getting them back shouldn't be a problem ONCE we get our act and troops in order!

and slowly... he... turned.... Actually he's taking his sweet time getting down here! again several small scale invasions, doesn't seem to be anything but a secondary objective.

He's responding appropriately to our Sir Robin at Sorbe, I just in the last couple turns upgraded the Dutch fighters to Hurricanes and P-40's
He lost a couple bombers but has since recovered and is POUNDING on the doors with every fighter in his arsenal! I'm hoping to burn off as much supply and fuel as I can and have everyone digging in furiously at Sorbe!

A Japanese backyard garden for him, J3 is decimating everything he doesn't already own by air and I can't do anything about it... I'm just about writing everyone off on Java and Malay peninsula.

2/24/42 Area around Calcutta

This is probably my strongest area to fight back... The Sixth Aussie Division is off the trains at Chittagong along with a couple of British Armour units and starting the long slog to Mandalay.
The 7th Aussie Division is just landing at Bombay, as soon as they are reconstituted, I'll entrain them to Calcutta to join up and in my past experience, they are enough to drive the Japs back to Bangkok, along with air superiority!
BTW We have P-39's and B-26's just arrived at Chittagong and as soon as the airbases are built up, I intend on giving J3 a taste of Allied airpower.

I figure since he bled off the area to support his SW OZ invasion (more on that shortly) I may be able to just use the Aussie Sixth Div. and keep the Seventh Div in reserve OR make the sharp left into Hanoi and go take back Hong Kong... THAT would certainly put a wedge in his jockeys!

2/24/42 Area of SW Australia

Bold! Daring! Successful! Drat!!!

Which do I remark on first? his first move in SW OZ was to invade Geraldton, early reports say 18,000-20,000 troops and he started 17,000 of them on the road to Perth.
Then there's the audacious move to go south around the horn to Esperance and complete the pincer movement!, not forgetting that he THEN para-jumped troops into Kalgoorlie and displaced my RAAN airbase forces there.

I had 2 Aussie Divisions (and supporting Armour) entrained to Kalgoorlie, except J3 knew that taking the base would leave my troops hundreds of miles away and no other option but to foot slog it over the desert to Kalgoorlie!, There is a CV TF and a couple of SCTF's marauding the SW coast so - no shipping or transports are safe!

I have a fighter wing (four groups) of P-40's coming from Cape Town, now they will likely be going to Chittagong to support the fight there, since I cant get around J3 in the Southern Ocean!

2/24/42 Area of Northwest Australia

This was J3's first points of invasion of the Aussie Continent... However I don't see him doing much other than raiding the resources...
I have no problem with dealing with them later as I have 3 A-24 groups and a P-40 group at Darwin along with the USA FA battalions... It will take a major push for him to take Darwin.
I'm also building up Katherine just in case he gets any sneaky backdoor ideas, I will be flying a lot of search and recon over that area.

Jim,

I would fill out your Training Groups to max number of pilots. Most of yours have lots of pilot slots available.

My CV based Marine fighter groups are not yet on all my CVs, but soon will be. On March 1st, you get more of them and the F4F-4 starts to come out. It will take a while to fill out your CVs, but be patient. Big Bad Wolf is running wild almost as much as John, but its a long long war so I'll be patient. The Avenger and two more CVs are right around the corner. Then, the Allied "Death Star" will flex her muscles.

3/42 - 45/month F4F-4 Wildcats means almost two CVs refitted per month (Marines can now upgrade to the -3 and -3A)
5/42 - 35/month TBF-1 Avenger means two CVs refitted per month

Slightly OT - I had Prince of Wales get 5 TT hits on the 7th by I-165 and sink on 8th. So, take the good with the bad.

OK got it - most were capped out when Larry and I switched Ops in January (+25% over capacity) I don't think Larry's moving them so do they release themselves? or switch if I fill another group?

"Patience Grasshopper" Yes I get it, but I don't have to like it!!!

If I sound like a petulant child I apologize, Playing stock in one concurrent game then switching over to this is a system shock as to what you can and can't do...

I appreciate the help and guidance, even if I keep stepping on my _ _ _ _ in my posts.

I was looking at some other AAR's and I am going to try a different way of presenting the days combat... comments appreciated!
