Just out of curiousity, the original install already did the VC++ 2008 pre-requisite installation. How come I am asked again when I install 1.07 patch? When I allow it to install, it comes up in maintenance mode. I exit at that point. Games still works.

You may want to ask the developers why. This is very confusing for non computer guru. Not sure what you used to create the update, you should be able to check in registry whether VC++ 2008 is installed and what version is installed. I used to create software installations packages at my day job (Senior .NET Developer) so I know some of these things a bit more. I do expect better experience for a widely distributed game.
