Hi!

I have bought Napoleon in Italy but it seems to be plagued with constanting freezing as soon as you even selecting just a unit and then you can do anything for 5-10 minutes or longer - eventually i just have to crt alt del to get out of the thing.

What settings should i have to make the game run well in windows 7?

I can run the game it seems with the fps set to 8 which is good, however ....

another big problem is that as soon as i can complete a tactical battle the game crashes to the main menu screen frozen, i can alt f4 it to make it functional but i cant actually go back to the game

P[lease help anybody or matrix games as i would hope that the games you sell are actually playable

well i couldnt find any other references in the forums to a fix (even after doing a search for napoleon in italy and looking in its forum) but someone has kindly given me this link http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2405588 which gives information on which compatibility settings to use. I thought i had tried them all but this works and stops the game crashing aft eht etactical battles which is great

thank you

Hmmm... I tried the fix suggested by Hussar games but it totally mucks up the rest of the display settings of my computer - which just to play a game is unacceptable. Having spent over $50 to purchase Nap In Italy, I'm thinking I've wasted my money. I don't suppose a better fix or return/refund is likely?

I never had to change my computers display settings, on the compat settings. The other way to play the game would be to use a virtual OS through vmware which is free, - you can install xp if you have copy of it is easy to do, and then just install the game there and it should work well. I have had to do this for hornet leader, nother matrix game which his unusable fixed resultion settings in windows 7 normally.

Also, check if your computer has an integrated graphics card and dedicate one also, my laptop has these both, but i find i need to make sure the game runs in the nvidia card and not the intel one, i recall. This can be the cause of issues on many other games too.

What happens to your display settings and what suggestions fromhussar games did you use?

might not be game related tbh, could be driver issues or o/s errors.

most problems are caused with bad o/s installs or old drivers etc and aren't game related

can be a pain to test my theory mind you as first looks for better vga drivers, then next try,

right click game exe,
properties,

left click compatibility

then choose disable display scaling etc, and see if it works for you

next to last option run system file checkers, Google it for instructions on how to run it and get ccleaner and do a reg repair or check etc with that.

very last option is a full wipe of windows fixes all windows errors, something some of us do a lot when game playing as we move a lot of data around and install and uninstall a lot.

a back up image is easy to make, and takes a max of 30 mins to make and re install windows and update, mind you longer to put back all the junk / apps / games etc, but makes everything work a lot better, image is made every 3 to 6 months then have less updates to re install

good luck
