Hardly a word on Universe. Promised more information doesn't come. You are expecting to release in May and yet you've hardly given us any information.

I'm tired of it. It's been this way since the first expansion, but has actually gotten worse. Distant Worlds does not deserve its niche fanbase.

It deserves better. I will only keep buying and supporting THIS GAME, but Matrix has lost my business otherwise.

You should really find another publisher, Elliot and company.

Well I suppose you all know my position already. Matrix development support is great but their Marketing is poor. Options should be considered at the end of the agreed contract period without a predicated conclusion either way. I'll hold fire on saying more that, in case Matrix lift their game with Marketing for Universe, but so far it's the status quo.

Now we should be able to discuss this subject maturely as a community but I hope this time the Moderators monitor this thread real time to ensure it remains free from Personal Attacks.

Yay, here we go again. Someone say the S-word so it'll be a real party!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Matrix is supposed to have someone employed who is supposed to know his business. What I don't know is why that someone isn't pushing the game harder but I'm sure he has a reason. Whether I'd agree with that reason is something I obviously can't know unless someone shares the reason, which is about as likely to happen as me pooping gold, but one might of course hope regardless. Saying that Matrix' marketing sucks is a bit judgmental and I don't know enough to make that judgment.

What I do know is that we're supposedly not too long before the super-platinum ultimate mega-GOTY version of DW is released and despite that this forum isn't exactly buzzing with activity. And that, I think, is a bit underwhelming. I can understand why "an expansion" to a stinking old 2010 game with poor graphics and an odd engine isn't high on the priority list, but under those somewhat underwhelming details there's a great game with awesome potential, and Universe really strikes me as more of a "the expansion" than an "an expansion". And considering all the crap Android games available today, I'd think people are getting used to seeing 2d graphics all over again. But if nobody knows the game then who's going to be buying it?

Well, I was thinking of that thing that water becomes when it's heated up but you S-words are pretty good suggestions too. I'm sure they'll do the trick nicely.

The assertion that Matrix Marketing is poor is not judgemental it is based on past performance. There are very few Distant Worlds reviews (or news) as compared to competing products around the more significant gaming sites. On YouTube the Let's Play are limited and have a very small subscriber base. And as we see again with Universe almost no information is released until very close to release. The mechanisms commonly used by others to raise awareness, a key component of marketing, are extremely limited with Distant Worlds and are well below competing products e.g. Stardrive, Galactic Civilisations, Endless Space and so on.

That said, I also still hope that Matrix will change fundamentally their Marketing Strategy for Universe.

Even early access games on the S-Platform get more awareness then DW:U. And imho DW:U deserves alot more attention then some of those early buggy-as-hell-access games get. Something here is going terribly wrong
