Last roll of the dice time - I've sacrificed 8 points and removed the captain's armband from Suarez....

Good work from Bony and Rooney , but I'm not having much luck with midfielders at the moment - and as for Coleman.... Leaving him out last week and putting him in this week were not massively bright moves

Harumph My midfielders are rubbish.... Sunderland win 4-0 and Johnson neither scores nor provides an assist.

Got some real thinking to do for next week......

I "knew" Podolski wouldn´t work out as captain. - That means last chance missed.

(Well, not only our league leader has something to complain about )

Not really "complaining" - just trying to get some chat going, but without much success.....

Yes, its quite quiet here. I believe there are only 3 (4?) of us left who still participate. All others have lost their interest a long time ago.

Nevertheless I still have fun tinkering with my team every week, although its not that thrilling finish I had hoped for, because you made by far the best moves in the last two or three weeks (Puncheon one or two weeks ago, Rooney as captain this week).

With two game weeks to go I would not say you are out of it. Just look at what happened to Lord of the Ings strikers this week - or my poxy midfielders. One inspired captain choice could be all the difference still....

2,150 Points

2,143 Points

2,097 Points

Have to get my thinking cap on!

Only got the one transfer available, but can I afford to lose points just to bring in players who might or might not play?

Tough one...

Well I've gone and done it now

Rooney's injury has completely mucked up my cunning plan so I have decided to make wholeseale, and expensive, changes....

This could be move of the season ....or a complete and utter, unmitigated disaster .

Oh well, we shall know in the course of the next 5-days.

...and before a ball is kicked, there is a new leader!

Lord of the Ings has not made any penalty transfers and, with Warspite Hotspur FC taking a massive 20-point deduction, the former opens up a 13-point lead at the top. Matrix City has gone for half-way house and has taken an 8-point deduction. The result of which is that, with the first game about to start, the top three are separated by 52-points.

Ramsey has been chosen by all three, thus cancelling out, while Dzeko has also been unanimously chosen, but Lord of the Ings has him as captain and so could steal a march there.

Here are the team sheets for the three contenders:

Lord of the Ings
2,143 Points
Begovic
Cahill
Shaw
Bardsley
Ozil
Sterling
Ramsey
Silva
Dzeko (Captain)
Lukaku
Suarez (Vice Captain)

Warspite Hotspur FC
2,150 – 20 = 2,130 Points
De Gea
Evra
Shaw
Zabaleta
Yaya Toure (Captain)
Mata (Vice Captain)
Ramsey
Johnson
Dzeko
Bony
Wickham

Matrix City FC
2,097 – 8 = 2,091 Points
Mannone
Azpillicueta
Zabaleta
Jones
Yaya Toure (Captain)
Mata
Ramsey
Eriksen
Dzeko
Suarez
Borini (Vice-Captain)

First game of the weekend done and its 2-points for Eriksen and Matrix City FC (although there may be a bonus point or two as he was the only Spurs player who could be bothered to turn up).

Lord of the Ings
2,143 Points
Begovic
Cahill
Shaw
Bardsley
Ozil
Sterling
Ramsey
Silva
Dzeko (Captain)
Lukaku
Suarez (Vice Captain)

Warspite Hotspur FC
2,150 – 20 = 2,130 Points
De Gea
Evra
Shaw
Zabaleta
Yaya Toure (Captain)
Mata (Vice Captain)
Ramsey
Johnson
Dzeko
Bony
Wickham

Matrix City FC
2,097 – 8 = 2,091 Points
(Update after early kick-off) - 2,093 Points
Mannone
Azpillicueta
Zabaleta
Jones
Yaya Toure (Captain)
Mata
Ramsey
Eriksen - (2)
Dzeko
Suarez
Borini (Vice-Captain)

Well that didn't go as planned . Giggs' honeymoon came to a pretty quick end didn't it?.....

So with one more game to come this evening (and two Sunday and one on Monday) and prior to bonus points being awarded, the position is as follows:

Lord of the Ings
2,143 Points + 8 = 2,151 Points
Begovic (2)
Cahill
Shaw (6)
Bardsley (0)
Ozil
Sterling
Ramsey
Silva
Dzeko (Captain)
Lukaku
Suarez (Vice Captain)

Warspite Hotspur FC
2,150 – 20 = 2,130 + 20 = 2,150 Points
De Gea (2)
Evra (2)
Shaw (6)
Zabaleta
Yaya Toure (Captain)
Mata (Vice Captain) (2)
Ramsey
Johnson (1)
Dzeko
Bony (2)
Wickham (5)

Matrix City FC
2,097 – 8 = 2,091 + 14 = 2,105
Mannone (6)
Azpillicueta
Zabaleta
Jones (2)
Yaya Toure (Captain)
Mata (2)
Ramsey
Eriksen - (2)
Dzeko
Suarez
Borini (Vice-Captain) (2)

There's only 1 point separating the top 2 and Matrix city has closed to 46 points. BUT, it would appear to be advantage Lord if the Ings at this stage as they still have 8 players to come (possibly 9 if Bardsley does not play in midweek). Warspite Hotspur only has 4 to come, while Matrix City has 6....

Man Utd lost - now Man City losing, and I removed Suarez from my team!!!!!!

Are City really going to blow it now????

Phew... I feel a little better now. Aguero scores with an assist from Yaya Toure. Having expensively transferred them out of my team, if Howard and Coleman had gotten bonus points for a clean sheet I would have felt even more foolish than I already do for putting faith in Manchester United

This is a crazy season....its back in Man City's hands as they take the lead through Dzeko. Meanwhile in the Australian Beauties league that's more points for the chasing two, but even better news for Lord of the Ings as he doubles up with captain's points....

Lord of the Ings takes a giant step to the Australian Beauties Premiership Title!

Lukaku scores to bring Everton back to a 1-goal deficit.... Squeeky bum time for Manchester City..... and a heightened search for the errant Yaya Toure by Matrix City and Warspite Hotspur....

Incredible....the Everton players were waving for a stretcher but it looks like he was just time wasting and the referee has just booked him accordingly

Into the last ten and Matrix City and Warspite Hotspur need Zabaleta to pop up with a goal or two. While the whole of Liverpool, not to mention Lord of the Ings, would love a Lukaku goal right now......

Game over - and the clear winners were Manchester City and Lord of the Ings - especially if Yaya Toure is ruled out in midweek....

I will update the tables later, after the bonus points have been added.

All hail Edin Dzeko!

Only decided to make him skipper late last night.

Bloody glad I did!

...and after all that, here is the table as it stands:

2,143 + 39 = 2,182 Points

2,150 - 20 + 43 = 2,173 Points

2,097 - 8 + 37 = 2,126 Points

And the competition is exciting to the end. Every point seems to count.

Certainly is - and with Lord of the Ings about to increase his lead further over the next two days, I need a top performance from Manchester United in the week or its game over; I spent 20 points to get as many players as I practically could playing 2 games this week. Its all for nought if they put in another display like they did against Sunderland.
