16-17 FEB 1944

Burma
Quiet. I preparing anther sweep session. Units arledy are at full power. But i need another 4 days until they will be ready to take replacements after combat.

So far sweeps look good. In last sweeps i exchange ~70 pilots for ~220 allied planes.
Defiantly cheaper that defending against P-47 sweeps.(in defensive battle i usually was losing 2 pilots for 3 enemy plane. Now i am losing 2 pilot for 6 enemy planes) Is not all about attrition.

100k troops in Magwe. They are marching toward Taung Gyi

Rangoon have now 336 operational Ki-84r. In 2 weeks it will be 392 because all groups will resize to 49 planes.

I start upgrading to R units in other areas. Burma have priority, now time for DEI.

Singer.
I lost TK full of oil near singer. ASW units rebased to area.

Marshals
Expected Marshal invasion is not coming. That is good. Longer he wait to take last base in area more time i have to prepare elsware

B-29
27 March 1944 first B-29 unit will show up. 3 days later He will start receiving B-29 reinforcements.
I still have month but I start preparing Oil defenses. All Oil fields will have day and night CAP. At lest 50 fighters will protect every base (N1K2, Ki-84a) in day and some nigh fighters in night.
I have N1K2 unit (45 planes resized) i will upgrade it to night fighter type.

R&D
J2M5 advance to 12/44

Patch
We upgraded to x4 beta

Mostly Quiet day.
Only 3 things worth notice. Al in DEI

In Lautem hex i see some ships. DL is very low. They will be tomorrow back in Darwin so no reaction from my side. I must again fix my search arcs.

West of Darwin i see CV TF. 50 planes only. Not sure what they doing.

And last. Docup must do something wrong with his amphibious TF in area. Over 400 squads(combat and non combat) unloaded on jungle peninsula East of Bathurst Island, 500 KIA, 400 disabled squads. I have no intel about unit but number of disabled squads and devices suggesting at lest Infantry Regiment. Reckon showing 6000 troops landed there so it can be even Division. Someone will lose his command or at best will return to navigation school.

20 FEB 44

Burma
Quiet. I lost xAK returning from Rangoon to Singer
More ASW send to area

Timor area
Also Quiet. I am thinking about sweep action. 40 enemy fighters on Lautem. AF still have 40 damaged. This Lautem landing surprise me. I have nothing to counter this. I have only enough troops to hold what i have now. I am moving reinforcements but it will take time.

Japan
Probably first time during war allied subs start hunting ~Tokyo area.
I lost xAK and xAP was heavily damaged. I have 20+ E and 60 planes that will try to do something with it.

KB
Lots of heavy ships have major damage that cant be fix by AR. Nearest port to do that is Singer. I thinking to move there KB for week or two and fix my ships. I still should be close enough to Timor only Pacific will be open to allies, but i dont see major moves there from 3 months
It is a problem because some of CV and BB have reduced Speed because of damage.
And i will need speed

R&D
There will be no major planes arriving in ~9 months from now.
In June J2M5 will enter production(120month), In July Ki-102(50/month) will replace Ki-45 and B7A2 Grace(90/month) will add some quality to navy strike wing. Of course NFs will enter production but probably with normal arrival dates.

Biggest change in air is planed in very late 44 or early 45. I hope start producing A7M2 Sam(240/month) and Ki-83(150/month). I am also researching that 800kg bomb army bomber for kamikaze duty.

J7W1 should be avaible in middle of 1945

Ship Production
In 7 days from now i will stop building any merchant points.(only 200 in pool)
Last Tanker will live shipyard in 7 days, I will have enough of TKs for next few months.
I don`t need xAK so why waste HI. March is officially last month of civilian ship production in Empire.

Burma
So it happens. 90k enemy troops in hex south of Meiktila is matching to jungle hex south of Taung Gyi. There is only one i can do.

Orders:
To all ground and air troops forces in Taung Gyi. Start immediate retreat South.
Air fore will cover any movements as long as impassable.

I have to do that. I cant risk cutting off 2500 AV in Taung Gyi area. I will take new defensive position south of base.

Battle of Salomon Sea
At 20th i send 4 DD TF toward Woodlark as air trap. Trap fail but my recon detect CL TF in Milne Bay hex. I dont want risk interception of my DD TF so on 21th as reinforcement i send CA TF. On morning 21th search planes found that enemy CL TF is 7 hexes from Rabaul. Orders was give fast to CA TF i have in middle of Salomon Sea. Flank toward Rabaul and merge with 4 DD there and prepare to defense of Rabaul waters.
In last moment my TFs merged. Few minutes later battle start.

Allied side have all advantages they need:
Maximum visibility in Partly Cloudy Conditions and 0% moonlight: 2,000 yards
CONTACT: Allies radar detects Japanese task force at 24,000 yards

Yet battle not go so well.
When allied open fire at 2000 they start missing like i never saw. On other side Japan manage to launch sucesfoul Long Lance attack.
Firs TT salvo hit CL Montpelier starting ammo storage explosion. CL sunk immediately. Seconds later another TT hit CL Denver and DD Braine
Battle was long an bblody. At end Japan lost DD in exchange of Cleveland class CL and Fletcher class DD

I must say in conditions i fight. Total supprise of Japanise TF, i must say it is great Victory

Burma
Quiet.
Milestone in air war today. After 2 weeks of sweeps in Burma. After shotting down 340 enemy fighters in exchange of 200 Franks and 100 pilots, Today Ki-84 don`t find CAP over Magwe.
Intel still shows 70 fighters in base but no CAP

Time to rest few days, replace loses and build pools of Franks.

Retreat from Taung Gyi is going ok. Docup is ground bombarding to slow me down but i am move steady 11 miles every day

PS. Again i forgot to end turn so we have delay again. I have good explanation. I bought new phone and i find that i still have child in me

China
800AV cross river in south China. ~800+ more is fallowing them.
Shock attack trash one of those silly 50AV divisions i have there as forward guard. 2000 KIA.
I seen that move from 5 days. I have 1000 AV moving to area. I don`t see danger to my lines. SO far.

Chinese divisions have ~200AV so probably those are units that reborn after being destroyer. No vehicles, almost no guns. Lets see how they handle against real soldiers i moving against them.

US fleet
No sign of major allied ships. Anywhere
Last contact with something worth notice is Rabaul battle 3 days ago and over week ago contact with BB TF near Horn Island. Don`t like that.

Quiet all over map.
Taung Gyi is in allied hands. Japanese troops safely retreat leaving only burned ground for allies. I taking new defensive position.

Near Darwin that strange CV(CVE) TF show up again. Mystery what he doing there. KB in alert

Over 40 squadrons resized today. Roughly counting it adds ~350+ fighters to Japanese air force.

Singapore
I lost AK near Singer. ASW TFs send to find and kill that sub.

Timor
I lost base West of Lautem. I send SAG in attempt to intercept enemy TF closing to Timor.
I miss. Enemy two CLs bombard Timor while my CA TF undetected return north.

Marshals
Enemy sub strike one TT in to CL belly i have in area. Ship is save but will need some Yard time

Last air group resized to proper size. Resizing and replacing all those planes in single turn plus upgrading some training groups to Ki-43(i have not enough Ki-27) cost ~10000 supplies
After resize some AF in Burma and DEI are now little crowded. Only in Burma it give me 100 extra fighters. Wonder how 49 size sweeps with Frank will looks. Statistically it should be better than 42 size.

Ki-84r production reach max. I am building 495 Franks monthly. And i don`t think i am over producing. It will by main Japanese fighter until end of war (Victory) in 1945 Ki-83 will join fight but even then Frank will be king of Japanese sky

Just caught up. Wow. Doing well koniu! That naval battle is really strange. Haven't seen one so lopsided in 44 for he IJN. maybe he had a poor commander of the TF? It's all I can think.

Good work in the air over Burma. Should slow him for sure.

True is that i chose my commanders. I think i spend so far ~500PP to replace commanders in combat ships. Especially in Cruisers and DDs, as many of them need to be replaced asap.

I think it was bad luck for Allies in that case. They have surprise me but first salvo miss and in return Long Lance attack was wonderful. One CL sunk , another one damage and DD damage after first round. Luck.

2 March 44

Mostly Quiet.
In Burma CAP trap shot down 35 enemy bombers.

Everything was good until B-25D1 arrive.
12 Mitchell bombers against 25 N1K2 with 70XP pilots.
At end 7 bombers shot down, 5 N1K2 shot down and 7 write off.

3 March 1944

Burma
200 Ki-84r again sweep Magwe. 32 Franks lost in exchange of 19 F4U1, 10 P-40, 7 P-51A and 1 Spit VIII.
This time Docup mass over 70 P-47 on CAP. After they climb above Frank party for Japan stop.

I think i will change tactic. I will resign from multiple sweeps on single target and i will start sweeping multiple targets with single unit only.

Why?

Most of allied fighters with good climb rate can`t climb above Frank, or if they can allies are limited with numbers with them. Only plane that is deadly from me right now is P-47 and with poor climb rate he is every time out of position. In last sweep first group that arrive over target eat enemy CAP shotting down 16 enemy fighters for lose of 2. But 3 next groups meet horde of P-47 at 42k. So plan is to sweep only with one group, use low P-47 climb rate at my favor to not giving chance to P-47 to dive at my planes when second or third group sweep because there will be no second group.

Those nose guns are on radar guided swivels with 180 degree area of fire. Right?

So many times the surprise works, fighters get the jump, and then ... 40 fixed 50cal take down half of a fighter group. Too bad.

4 March 1944

I tried my new tactic in Burma. 3x49 groups sweep 3 different targets. At end of day 23 Franks lost but 51 enemy fighters destroyed.

Night fighters in Rangoon shot down 3 Wellingtons

In China N1Ks intercept and shot down 7 B-25D

Norh of Java Es sunk enemy sub. Another one probably sunk from air ASW (sinking sound)

5-6 March 1944

Burma
It start to be very interesting. Mostly i am worried about my right flank.
As You can see Docup manage to sneak behind my lines some LCUs. I manage to recognize them as two para drop units and small tank unit. In total they have ~120AV but so far only small 15AV unit is blocking my retreat. I should be able to break trough easily if i win race with those two units little north. I need two more days.

North of river ~1000+ AV is chasing my boys. If i manage to break trough his blockade i will start new defense line in Thailand border. If not situation will be bad. I moving all available reinforcements to block that path.

Little south i have Thai Division that can open retreat path from south but that will break HR about unrestricted unit crossing borders. I already break that rule by clicking at destination on hex to much north ID will move south

It is time to retreat from central Burma and start new defense line in Rangoon area

Salomon Sea
Allies finally land at Port Moresby. Base is empty from 3 months. Right now only 20 man and 8 guns is defending it.

LCAP over TF near Milne Bay shot down 45 British navy bombers.

There is a nearly complete list in my Wild Sheep, but after a short dig I couldn't locate it. It's fairly late, after 1/45 I think.

The keys are airframes and combined units. One of the recon groups upgrades, one float plane group does as well. Some fighter units use the A6M NF. Some FB units upgrade using the Ki-45 Id.

Which NF are you making?

I found that even Irving is great NF. Last turn for lose of 1 Irving and i shot down 4 Liberators over Rangoon.

I am currently building/R&D
Navy: building J1N1-S Irving, and i will build A6M5d-S Zero from 6/44
Army: from 4/44 Ki-45 KAId Nick, and from ~9/44 Ki-46-III KAI Dinah

Not sure about late war models. Only ones worth building are Randy and Denko but i have no R&D for them and they arrive very late. In total i will build something ~200 NF monthly

First job for them will be protection of oil fields.

The Irving Sa is even better. If he concentrates into big strikes you'll lose a LOT of NF, but at times you can really take a chunk out as well, and most importantly, they disrupt the strikes.

Make sure you get the AA upgraded to the 12cm guns as well, and the big Naval Base units upgraded with their 12.7cm and 8cm DP guns. Those do work at night pretty well.

good tip about Naval Base guns. As for 12cm guns. Empire have 108 active 12cm guns most of them already protecting oil fields but i found some siting in Tokyo.

Most actions took place in Burma

Burma
Docup is pushing south of Taung Gyi. So far i am holding but not for long. Reinforcements on move. I am preparing to abandon Burma. Already two ID and Tank Division retreat to Moulmein. Situation look dangerous in East Bruma (yellow road) Docup move there with ~2000AV against my 600AV. Lucky i manage to break trough blockade. I am moving all available Thai unit to that area. I think they will hold allies long enough to allow me to build new defense position East of Chiang Mai I moving there 1000AV army.

Air combat also is intensive in last week i shot down over 200 allied planes with equal Japanese loses loses.
