When i'm playing smaller scenarios time compression works fine.
Playing larger scenarios time compression slows down.
Is there some things in the game wich i could turn off to improve performance?
Would taking of range rings and so on make any difference?

Anyway this game is best simulation of modern warfare i have seen. Also i'm impressed how
fast your making improvments in the game.

I play large scenarios only and the best solution I found was to switch off auto save and increase the performance of the PC to real time. I have a high performance desktop and it still slows down esp when there are 200 units plus on the map. Another thing is to switch off jamming

Ok. Thank's. I'm also playing mostly large scenarios and when playing very large scenarios wich i like,
game slows down so much that compression time loses it's meaning. Newermind what the compression level is clock
tics about real time.

If anyone else has some advice, it would be appreciated.

Turn off hi-fi performance in the game options.

Turn off as many range rings as you can.

Hello, welcome and thank you for the very kind words.

1) Please make sure that you are running with the latest public version. Currently this Build 521, which you can get here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3601435

2) Can you please post a save file of the situation under which you are experiencing bad performance. There is always the chance that there exists a situation-specific speed bottleneck that we haven't yet come across.

Thanks again!

There is no spesific time when game slows down. Those hints above helped a little. When playing large scenario it's constantly slow. When using compression time it goes around 5 times faster than real time. It does not matter if compression level is 5:1 second or 30:1 seconds, it goes still same speed.

I'm using build 521 and my laptop has amd phenom II quad (x4) processor.

Scenarios i play are mostly made by me. For example in one scenario i have around 40 ships, 400 aircraft, 30 airfields, radars, sams and so on. Total number of units well over 1,000.

I do not think that there is any problem within the game, i'm just putting too much stuff in scenarios to my Computer to handle.

I will start playing/making medium sized scenarios. Thanks for your replies.

I have run Command on four different computers...from ancient XP single core to eight core design workstations. Only the fastest will run time compression well on some of the very large scenarios with greater than 1000 and all the features turned on. And even then, when missiles start flying, it can slow even the best down.

I am not complaining, but I think people need to have some common sense that if you run huge scenarios, it will run slowly at times.

I'm new in this game and just wanted to find out is there things you can do to improve performance. Like some games you can reduce Graphics to improve game speed. In this that's not an option. I just prefer larger scenarios. I do have some common sense, maybe not that much but anyway. The game is great and every day i'm learning more.

Yeah, your question was really about how to optimize it. But there are a couple of other threads where people are actually complaining when they have 2000 units and the games runs slow at times. I just get frustrated watching the devs use valuable time chasing down stuff like this and the rivet counting. That is time they could spend improving other parts of the game, like those in the poll.
