No worries and welcome to the forums. I'm making progress on Red Storm 8 for the Ate Up scenario:

Hello Plodder,
I really like your maps very much.
especially the original colours and shape for road and highway signs.
I am from germany and I get a really bit home sick on that :-)

what I do not like , please understand this as a constructive only critic,
is the town /city pattern. compared to landscape or woods it is a bit simple.
I suggest something similar as in the old GDW Assault series board game
www boardgamegeek.com/image/162059/assault
there is town = gray flat
and urbanstrip = these black dots along the roads

No worries, constructive criticism is always welcome. There is definite room for improvement with the urban pattern but I can't say I like the example you gave me. It looks too plain to me.

sure, it is a bit plain and not for it self suitable as a texture.
This brown and gray looks like the german build wooden and stone buildings. They don't.
Usually buildings are stone and most of them, perhaps except in the northern plain, have cellars.
One will not drive his tank in such a building because he will likely fall in that cellar.
The difference between town and city should be that in a city (or the center of a village)
the buildings are build wall to wall like row-houses. In a city a tank can drive on streets only. In a town (or the outskirts of a village) there is more space between buildings so tanks can pass them in the gardens.
I would a appreciate a texture for town with a lot of see trough, and one more solid for the city. On google maps this difference could be viewed very well.

I've had a look at the urban textures and I've been playing around with patterns. Patterns are geo-morphic textures that fill a selected area by repeating the texture until the area is filled. I've managed to come up with a couple patterns through trial and error that I'm quite happy with.

Here's a sneak peek of Red Storm 15 from Thor's Hammer with the new textures:

Red Storm 15 for Thor's Hammer is now finished. That is all the British scenarios now done. Although, I'm going have to go back and redo all the previous maps with the new urban textures and I also want to redo the forests and fields on the maps where they aren't to scale. That might take a while.

Next up will be Red Storm 11 for Witch's Cauldron, the final West German scenario. Here's a couple of screens for the new map and download link is: http://www.mediafire.com/download/d329l1xs58i56uk/Red_Storm_15.zip

LOL, more like a glutton for punishment. I consider these maps as constant WIPs as I discover new ways of doing things. If I find something cool or come up with an idea, I'll add them to the maps. It's just as much fun as playing the game to me. The last two maps I did should be fairly quick to do as all I have to change is the urban textures but the earlier ones, like RS1 and 2, are going to need major surgery done to get them up to scratch.

Great! The thing I love specially is the clarity of the heights. They are intuitive and easy to see.
