Heyup,

Upon install, very early on, my Kaspersky see's the DistantWorlds.exe as a virus and deletes it rending the launcher unable to launch the game upon install.

First time Distant Worlds player; purchased Universe via Slitherine Ltd & downloaded via the link they provided (1gb); Windows 7 64 bit.

I'll look for the kapersky report now while i re-install with the AV disabled.

Edit1:
AV info (wont let me fully link); http: //puu.sh/8Y3cy/f753b401d8.png

^ delete the space after http:

Edit2:
If it helps, the popup was very early in the install cycle - first 10-20 secs.

Please create an exclusion area for Distant Worlds in your Kaspersky.
Check this tutorial on how to do it:

Think that url is wrong :) its linking to a Field of Glory : Ancient & Medieval Era 3000 BC-1500 AD : General Discussion area.

Can you add an exception to a AV prior to installing it? its he file which the installer add's which is getting the false positive.

Sorry for the wrong link. :)
You should pause Kaspersky protection prior to the game installation. After having installed the game, create the exclusion area.
The false positive is not the installer file but the main exe. At least that was what was happening with Shadows.

I think i just cracked it, I added the folder which I'm installing DWU as an exclusion area, seems to be working so far.

3rd time installing, 2nd time I installed with AV turned off, as soon as I re-enabled it and clicked the launcher, the AV deleted the exe again. doh.

Hopefully the 3rd method ^^ works.

Yes, the third method should work.

This will be a temporarily solution anyway. We will hopefully add in the near future our titles to Kaspersky whitelist.

Since ZoneAlarm uses a Kaspersky core you will also need to add DW to the Exclusion there if using ZA.

edit: Matrix/Slitherine might want to get in touch with Kaspersky and see about fixing this LONG running issue.

I just wanted to share that the same thing just happened to me using Zone Alarm.
Adding an exception for the specific folder (and later the file as well) under AntiVirus - Advanced Settings -Exceptions worked for me.
The file went into quarantine, but once the exception was added, i took the file out and had no problems since.

Was a bit odd for me, because i had been running DW - Shadows as well as the other DW versions with ZA and had no problems.
