How is this Calculated,in galactopedia it says Ship purchase cost=Material cost X quantity.
Considering the base cost of 0.8 for steel and say i put component which uses 5 steel ,i clearly can see purchase cost is way more then 4 credits, whats the logic behind ship costs, please explain.

Ok look here, the purchase cost is 125 but look at resources in next post ,used to construct this one component so far, even if the cost for material was at cieling say at 2.4 ,even then it wont be 125 for purchase.
Clearly there is st else too which adds to cost.

From what I seen in my tests, ship cost is 10.5 times the prices of ressources, and maintenance is about 3.5 times that cost.

If you multiply by 10, it should roughly work?

The galactopedia says that in simply terms, the ship cost is resource cost * resource amount. In less simple terms, resource cost * resource amount is probably used as a multiplier to make actual prices vary in a given range depending on resource value.

you know ,i too saw 10-10.5 multiplier work so far in my tests, but i think its just a guess.
They should probably add that multiplier in galactopedia,it will cut the ambiguity out of this calculation.

It's simple, but complex.

Basically the cost of the ship (and its maintenance) is directly related to the current price of resources. If you have plenty of resources, ships will be cheap. If there is a shortage of resources, ships will cost more in relation to the increased cost of the resources to build it.

increase in cost, with increased resource prices is something new players can overlook,i didn't see it till i actually paid attention, same for ship costs when resource prices were not inflated,i think they need to redo work on galactopedia, some things need editing, why dont just put correct info that ship cost is directly proportional to resource price and a multiplier haha instead of present info.

Not to mention the Ancient guardians descreptive info ,in galactopedia says, origin is unknown, why not write humans built them, especially now when universe is released and sentinent computer core is there.

Galactopedia needs work,more details.

All the things said, indeed changes were made to the game,"for the better" with every expansion,it is getting better everytime but, some aspects are still the same.

It just dawned on me : that cost you see in the Component Guide is not the money cost of the component, but actually the research cost of the technology giving that component! (not sure what happens with upgraded components)

The formulas used in this thread:

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2717671&mpage=1&key=maintenance

were accurate up to and including Shadows.

If there are differences perhaps someone could update for Universe?
