Excuse my ignorance, but I believe I was hopping around these forums when I stumbled upon a game that was being talked about and can not for the life of me remember what it was called.

The game I believe was a total eastern front type with almost photo realistic maps and such. The only thing I can remember about it was that it was dropped then picked back up from a different company and they are working on it.

Anyone out there know what game I may be refering to its driving me nuts

More details of the game would help.

I recently viewed a near photo grade RTS game called WW2 RTS that might quaility.

Not sure about that company comment though.

Thanks for the reply, I have found the game but cant tell if its still been TKO'd, Game is called Road to Moscow and looks decent but ive only saw screen shots that were dated back in 2000. For some reason thought it was when I was browsing here for some new patches to my brand new copy of UV that arrived via UPS today :D .http://www.gamesdomain.com/gdreview/zones/previews/nov98/rtm.html

Wow!

It seems these had these ideas well before me.

It is a great shame this game is unlikely to see the light of day.

For me it could have been gaming nirvana!

I hate, absolutely despise RTS games. Probably because they almost all universally suck too.

But having read the review in the link, it would seem this game might have promise.

I thought HoI had promise though when I first found it. So you will have to understand when I say, a good review will still find me not so easily swayed.

The game will actually have to actually materialise before I say anything for it.

I agree, I purchased HoI and even with all the patches still seems to miss the mark. Played as germany war didnt break out until 41 and Poland fell in less than a week then France all the meanwhile 5 uboats and 2 fighter planes repelled Englands endless onslaught until 1943 when one italion division landed on England and claimed it :). Russia was funny as well declared war on me and stood there waiting for me to build enough force to challenge them.

Keeping a hold of it however always give a company the benefit of the improving what can be a good game. As for Road to Moscow it really does seem like it is promising, just hope if it is still a work in progress the gameplay is good. Im with you the reviews can paint all kinds of pretty pictures and such but until I fire it up wont mean much of anything (if that day to fire it up ever happens that is)

Agreed. I bought it a couple of months ago. Applied the patches, and began a 1936 campaign as Germany. I built up my forces and attacked Czechoslovakia in 1938, which ended in a defeat. I left the room for a couple of minutes, came back, and found that the Czech army had captured Berlin! Needless to say I haven't played this garbage since. Alternate history is one thing, but this is a joke.

Road to Moscow has assumed mythical status among wargamers, but it is most certainly long dead and will never see the light of day. Also heard from some guy who had been given an early version a couple of years back, which was highly flawed and more or less unplayable.

Looks like Road to Moscow might be an Urban Legend type game just like World in Flames for computer seems to be.

The programmer is still working on it. He just posted on the yahoogroups mail list this morning:

Yes.

I am a little distracted at the moment. Major product release at a Fortune500
company. But yes progress is being made.

I am updating the DirectX from 3 to 9. I thought that 6 versions difference
warranted changes. DirectPlay changed significantly and requires some
significant changes in the Client/Server architecture.

I have a bid out for a dedicated co-lo server. It will be installed and set up
by late April. At that point I will move product information to a dedicated
site on that server.
