I pissed off the humans on my map... Of course it's the humans, what else would it be.

Destroy them and find a independent world of them so that they can live on without knowing what you did to their cousins on those other planets. Just put that world under your influence and sooner or later they will grow enough to become a space faring race, then give them the tech and mining rights and trade your rare luxuries with them and you will then have a better more improved human race that you can influence. The humans don't actually seem that strong to destroy, well their troops are pretty strong but they die like the rest.
