Hi guys

Sometimes, not all the time, something happens with CMANO and my CPU goes amok and eventually overheats leading to system shutdown. CMANO is the only non-Windows program I'm running and only happens when this game is running.

I have monitored CPU temp and it gradually rise until shutdown. It started happening with the latest 1.04 RC candidate.

I have attached a savegame from a few seconds before it crashed last time.

The CPU is a AMD 9370 eight Core at 4.42 Ghz, not overclocked.

Command should not cause a CPU thermal fault. There are supposed to be all kinds of safety catches in place from throttling cycles to increasing fan output. I think Command is just highlighting an issue with you have with your system.

Have you tinkered with the fan at all. Is this a home built system?

Like thewood says:)

I'd start by getting some canned air and making sure your vents are clear of dust etc and then make sure your fan is working etc.

I would suggest using AMD's Overdrive to throttle the speed of your processor down to limit heat and see if that helps. I would also use it to see how the CPU is behaving as it starts to fault out. You can read the temperature. You should see speed getting choppy before the CPU crashes.

It's quite a mystery to me. Just played 1 hour of Prepar3d and temp stayed normal. Same with Arma 3. I just don't understand why it only happens with CMANO.

Anyways, will continue investigations :-)

Command is much more driven by CPU cycles than ARMA. ARMA tends to be a GPU hog, not a CPU hog.

Command loves CPU cycles & cores, no doubt about it.

I'm sorry guys, I feel like a complete noob. I just moved house and the CPU cooler had accumulated an enormous amount of dust. A can of air solved it....

Damn, and I was drafting an "Is your CPU tough enough for Command?" ad campaign.

Interesting...I would have expected some throttling of the speed to come into play before the CPU faulted out. I guess maybe it did, but just not enough.
