For some reason RAN S2G Trackers won't launch from a carrier.
I have a test scenario where I have included US S2G's, Argentinian S2E's and Australian S2G's on the same carrier, all armed the same.

The US and Argentinian S2's launch without problems, the RAN S2's just keep looping at the "Waiting for runway to become available" stage.

Scenario attached (carrier located just south of Indonesia)

Baloogan Wiki says about RAN S-2G Trackers after 1967 version: (Land based)....

S-2G Tracker -- Australia (Navy), 1967-0 on the other hand says in description: Fixed Wing, Carrier Capable

You sure you use the version that is Carrier Capable?

Hi Sardaukar,

Thanks for the reply.

I'll do some more testing when I get home as I know I made a scenario using these planes in an earlier version, so will test a few other DB's.

The RAN trackers were land based for a few years (1981-1985, I think), but that is only because they no longer had a carrier to fly from, in every sense they should still be carrier capable, though.

I added the carrier capable S2G to the carrier and it did launch.

Based on the description, I would have thought that this a/c should be carrier capable 1975-84, and land based 1983-84. Otherwise why have the distinction in the name?
Maybe it needs to be 2 separate entries?

If you check actual capabilities in database, only earliest RAN S-2G Tracker says "Fixed Wing, Carrier Capable". So it's most likely that rest of the versions are not. I think they might have removed arrestor hooks etc.

In theory, the editor shouldn't allow you to put a non-carrier capable plane on a ship. I remember having issues with trying to do this when first experimenting with scenario.

To me, that is just up to the scenario designer. It doesn't happen unless you force it.

IIRC we started enforcing this (no non-carrier capable aircraft on carriers) a few builds back, but it requires the v413+ versions of the DBs. So if you are using an older version of either the game or the DB it will not prevent you from sticking an F-16 on a carrier.

I always go back to Doolittle's raid. Would you have listed the B-25 as being carrier-capable? I think its up to the scenario designer to figure out limitations in the scenario.

Thanks to all who have looked into this and lent advice.

From what information I have found the RAN definitely operated S2's from the HMAS Melbourne up until it was decommissioned in 1982 and I can see that the Devs have added a "Database Corrected" addition to the thread title, so I'll see how things work after the next update.
If all goes well I'll be able to finish a scenario I've been tinkering with for a while using this A/C from the Melbourne in the mid 1970's.
