Hi,

As a person with way too much free time on my hands, I undertook a pet project of creating orders of battle for the US Military and select nations. Seeing the proliferation of custom scenarios on this forum, I could see that these ORBATs could be useful in making missions. I have attached the US Navy Orbat, to see if people will like it (or do not have access to something similar already). All the information is off the web (No, I did not hack in the US military's mainframe), and is from Scramble, Wikipedia, government documents, and other sources I have stumbled upon (and I should probably cite...). I have the rest of the US armed forces updated to 2014, and I have some outdated ORBATs from last year on Poland, Germany, Australia, Britain, New Zealand (it was one page front and back) France, and Netherlands. I will release those later if people like them - the only reason I am not releasing them all now is because Matrix only lets me upload one file at a time. Feel free to comment, critique, address an inaccuracy (of which there could be quite a few) or simply say 'no thanks.' Or tell me to get out of the country because the NSA is inbound.
Enjoy!

BTW the attachments for the rest of the US military and the other countries I made ORBATs for are below in two separate posts.

I'll take a look. Keep in mind you can zip multiple files together.

I agree, it is very cool. I think someone had import files for USN carrier strike groups, but no aircraft. We could use these to build those out.

Currahee,

Your my new favorite person. Been getting ready to update my carrier imports for 2014, you just saved me a ton of time.

The carrier imports do have the air wings.

Glad I could help. I will go ahead and apologize in advance for any mistakes I made, but I went over these things a couple of times to check accuracy so there shouldn't be too many errors. Just FYI, the plane numbers off scramble I believe reflects reserve aircraft and aircraft away on deployment, so there some are slightly under or over strength of the usual 12 planes. I have attached the rest of the ORBATs I have made. I am currently working on one for Russia and one for the UK based off their Army 2020 reforms. The Russians one, however, will involve a good deal of educated guessing - sometimes not even educated.

If there are any questions/clarifications/berating over missed details, just let me know.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I am glad this will be a good resource for the community. What's the purpose of hours of work than to share it with people that can put it to good use?
Again, if there are any questions, just let me know. Going back through I realize I could be unclear on some things and I made some typos.

I assume you've seen the link for the ORBATs on the European countries and SOPAC countries. Are there community preferences? I am (well, was - I took a break to enjoy CMANO and the first weeks of summer break)in the middle of the (agonizingly inaccurate) Russian ORBAT, but I wouldn't mind a change of scenery.

I do have an incomplete Canadian ORBAT. I never could nail down the actual organization and TOE of their Army - the only TOEs I had came from Combat Mission Shock Force - so I felt it was too half-baked to post.

Really great work. One correction/clarification - the 7th Infantry Division doesn't actually control units. The 2d and 3d SBCTs under the 7th ID are based at Fort Lewis, but they are part of the 2d Infantry Division. The 7th ID is kinda like the local administrative (not commanding) headquarters for Fort Lewis. I think they also do exercise support overseas.

The Army's organization is needlessly complicated, and it'll probably get worse as units get chopped.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, let's just say there were several times - more than I care to remember, actually - that I was tempted to punch my computer screen in rage over conflicting/missing information. Especially the times when one unit is listed with four different commands and you have no idea why...

As for the public requests, I'll take a stab at those Pacific Rim countries. I suspect their Air Force and Navy ORBATs will be easy to come by or at least make pretty confident estimations on, but their land force structure will be another matter entirely. It doesn't help that I don't speak Japanese or any other foreign language (my High School tried to make me learn Spanish, but I refused...er, barely passed). Oh well, that's part of the fun.

IMO, from your currently submitted ORBATs, I think your "estimations" will be better then most of ours (mine anyway) and these will be a great asset to the community.

Thanks again

If you use Firefox, you can get an add-on called Google Translator for Firefox. You can highlight material on a web page, hit one button, and it autotranslates for you. It works pretty well.

I have finished the updated UK ORBAT. Here it is.

I am now off to Japan...metaphorically speaking of course.

Glad I have some fans!

The JSDF orbat release is imminent. I should come to grips with the problems I have with it currently within a day or two, and after that I'll post it.
That said, Japanese-to-English translation on Wikipedia isn't exactly seamless. Here is an excerpt from what one has to try and decipher.

quote:

Equipped with 79 craft formulas against anti-tank guided missiles-and medium-range multi-purpose missile, to provide anti-tank firepower to the regiment. It is a curriculum that only infantry regiment of 8.10 subordinate division has. Anti-tank company is expected to be split abolished for integration to infantry anti-tank platoon company in recent years in the introduction of multi-purpose medium-range missile. In order to organize the craft versus anti-tank company under the direct control of the division, abolished the anti-tank company of subordinate infantry regiment at the end of FY2010 Heisei respect to the second division of this.

So...yeah. You can't have your cake and eat it too!

Anyway, I will soon will be out of this morag of fractured and incomplete sentences soon (I honestly look forward to it) and the 2014 JGSDF orbat will be completed.

Again, thanks for the support!
