Please can we have an option in the customised start for "Force player empire to start at ancient homeworld, if possible"?

The reason I say "if possible" is that you obviously can't force it, if said ancient homeworld isn't actually in the map.

This would be very helpful for setting up scenarios with a random element. It will enable us to fix the starting position of the player empire, while allowing the position of the other empires to be randomised.

Thanks,

Osito

I agree this should be an option, or at least greatly increase the odds in which you can start on your homeworld. It seems heavily weighted against this happening in the generator.

What bugs me more about not starting on my ancient homeworld is that it seems more than 6O% of the time I start out on some random planet half a galaxy away or more from my ancient home world. Likewise for many other race. Isn't very story friendly with how common it is, and it creates too much diversity in what races belong to each empire. What i mean by that is i tend to see Bug/Human empires and such within the first few years of the game. It's very annoying.

In the galactic map I'm working on, I'd been trying to get the game to randomly start the humans in the Sol system, and it never happened once in several dozen attempts. I've concluded that my design for the Sol system has some incompatibility with what the game considers a proper starting system. Interestingly, even on a custom map, the game adds often adds extra planets, mooons and asteroids to selected empire starting systems in the custom map. This means that when you play a random game on a custom map, it's impossible to play the exact map that was originally designed. I guess the custom map feature is really intended more for scenarios than random games.

I've asked for this in the past as well. And I still want it.
