Which one of the reader type mechanical readers are best to get for Matrixgames/Slitherine games? Kindle?....other? which? I have no clue about these as I never had one but I'm tired of havining to tab out to read the manuals of some of these games. I'm used to sitting on the family throne and taking my time reading a "printed" paper manual from oldschool days.

I went through 3 e-reader/tablets before I got myself an ipad-mini with retina display and find it to be the best reader/tablet/gaming device all in one (when I say gaming I mean games made for that system). I agree it is more pricey. If I was to go back to an e-reader the best of the 3 that I had was the Kobo arc 7HD. That was a great little tablet but my wife got a liking for it, so I gave it to her and bought the ipad mini on a whim and love it to pieces.

I play the Frontline: Road to Moscow on it, Baldurs Gate, PanzerCorps, and 4 other fantasy RPGs and have never run into any problems.

I absolutely love using a Bose bluetooth Headset with it and I paired it with the Logitech Bluetooth keyboard (can't use both at same time though for Bluetooth). Funny one of the best impulse purchases I have never regretted or looked back on.

I am sure others here can give you some feedback on their preferences.

People shouldn't ask themselves why schools get shoot up.
They should ask themselves why people who finish schools burned out due to mobbing aren't receiving high enough compensations to not seek vengeance.

Good question. I would be surprised if this thing is not bad for your eyes

I wanted to buy a giant kindle DX. Discontinued for some reason then the sale resumed

If you have used e-readers, you know reading PDFs is complicated. And given that there are a lot of PDFs out there, this giant thing would be appreciated (by me).

I really have to buy it

Two ways to go, a tablet can do more than be a book reader, but the ereaders are actually the only fun way to read a lot on one of these things and are better in glare.

But the ereaders are only for reading, so not much game related fun.

I'm a supporter of the Asus Nexus 7, but they are not the ideal device to read a lot of pages worth of involved text.

I think Sony planned to produce a "giant" e-reader (like the Kindle DX). I can't remember the release date: 2014 or 2015.

And the price would be around $500, which is quite expensive.

I go to work very early before anybody arrives and print the wargame manual in colour.

Then I read the manual carefully from cover to cover and underline things and highlight things.

Then I test the game mechanics and ensure it does what the manual says.

Sometimes I ask a question on the forum to clarify a game mechanic.

The a patch or patches is/are released.

Then I make a mini manual.

By this time the printed copy is damaged so I print a fresh one and store it away never to be looked at again. I only refer to my mini-manual

Readers do not allow you to do that stuff.

You can do whatever you want with a PDF or word file. Much eaiser to ammend you manual on a tablet, than to reprint the whole thing. You can also look at the manual on a tablet while you are playing on your computer, and look at webpages at the same time.

I bought a 10 inch tablet, and thought wow this is great, I can read full colour pages in near original size.

Then I discovered they don't generally make purses big enough to hold anything that big :)

Later on I have realized how heavy a 10 inch tablet is after the first 5 minutes too. And remember, you are reading it holding it in one hand.

I later realized, that while a 7 inch tablet will require more scrolling, A they fit in a purse and B your hand will thank you.

But again, if you plan to use the thing to also read novels on the go, you won't want anyone's tablet, as they don't do well in direct sunlight or bright light sources at all. They are great for many things, but not for prolonged reading.

Right tool for the job essentially.

Which is why, those fancy schmancy full colour awesome wargame manual pdf files, eventually you want to pull a Joe and sneak a colour copy at work :)

Or if you are like a young friend of mine, you 'rent' a colour laser printer on your credit card from Staples, print out every stupid game manual you can find, and then return the printer to the store for a full refund. Yeah it's a jerk move, but their store policy is stupid and iron clad. No questions, money back guarantee in 30 days.
