Here's a small thing that aggravates me sometimes. When I scroll around on the main map, either by using arrow keys or the mouse, I will often scroll right off the edge of the mini map. So, if it is a big map, sometimes I lose track of where I am in the grand scheme of things. Then I end up clicking in the mini map to try and find where I am, and I end up losing my position on the main map. What I wish is that the mini map would scroll at the same time, so that the area shown in the main map is always visible in the mini map. Am I missing something? Is there some game setting that will allow this?

Perhaps you know this already but: the trick is not to click on the minimap, rather put the cursor on the edge of it so it will scroll without moving the big map.

A jump map would be better than the mini map. Essentially it's a mini map that shows the entire main map. Shows where you are on the main map and location of your units and any spotted enemy units. You can click any place on the jump map and you are put in that location on the main map. Ends any need to scroll on the mini map which, if the main map is big enough, is time consuming. Ends any possibility of losing where you are on any map. More convenient than the current mini map situation. A hot key will bring up the jump map. With new 3.x and the possibility of 700x700 maps it will save a HUGE amount of time when compared to scrolling around on a mini map and losing where you are.

The problem is that the mini map doesn't scroll when the rectangle reaches the edge, the rectangle will just go off the edge of the mini map and disappear. In SPWAW (or the other SP games) this doesn't happen. The mini map will scroll so you always see the rectangle that signifies the main map view.

As a work-around, I can stop the main map scrolling when the rectangle reaches the edge of the mini map, then scroll the mini map with the mouse, then go back to scrolling the main map. But this gets tedious.
