I am obviously inept but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to use the loadouts with the buddy laser requirement. I have tried multiple aircraft (e.g. A-6E) where each has a laser designator and I select active but no joy. I even tried putting a seal team equipped with a designator nearby and turning on the designator and no joy - are laser designators that fickle?

Harrier dropping paveway, hornet providing illumination

Weapon needs to support buddy illumination

Weather could be effecting things

Plus make sure you are running command 1.04

I am running 1.04. Just rarely get the dashed red target line for a laser illumination. Never noticed but does it illuminate only upon bomb release? Maybe I was thinking laser works more like in real life where laser marks target and then bomb releases. I even tried telling a laser designator equipped unit to F1 attack the target to see if that would illuminate but no joy...

I'm pretty sure it illuminates after release only and it automatically uses the other unit's laser without you specifically having to tell it to do so. If there is no supporting unit to lase then you will get a message about no illumination available in the attack window. So if it says OK to release even though the unit does not have a laser, that means it will use the ground based or other aircraft based laser

(I think )

Hm yeah, I looked real quick and the AN/PAQ-1 set carried by the SEAL team is not in the AGM-65E Laser Maverick's 'legal directors' list. So its a database error, which means I scr*wed up. Have added a ticket on this. Will look into it when we start ramping up again late this summer / early fall.

I opened the scen you attached in the scenario editor and added a 'Inf Sec (Forward Air Controller [Laser Designator])' and the AV-8Bs immediately fired.

Sorry about that one, here have a virtual beer

well dang that solution is a surprise...so with multiple AV-8 in the strike package why did they not self illuminate - #1 illuminates for #2 etc?

AV-8Bs were not fitted with laser illuminators It was not until very recently that they got targeting pods.

well that makes sense - and now I know better than to play the game w/o reading glasses on, cause I sure thought the AV-8B had a laser pod but after looking at the F9 options I see it is a LLTV and an IR capability, my bad:
