Just learning ... playing the 1864 Atlanta scenario, trying to make sense of things.

I can't make any sense of the battle reports. I *think* I understand the structure, but very very very often the hit and cohesion numbers don't add up. So I think either: 1) I'm really misunderstanding something, or 2) the battle reports are broken.

Anyone have similar experiences? Are things broken?

Or is there a good description somewhere of how to read the battle reports?

I checked several previous battles and my counts add up in each situation. The inflicted cohesion count only seems to include those hits your forces actually inflicted and not losses from other activities.

The screen below is an example of where to look to find the counts. You can also find more detailed information in the log file !battlelog.txt in the Logs folder.

I'm a financial analyst. Spend all day looking at spreadsheets which has probably influenced my opinion about this but here goes.

All I look at is who won and the total number of men in each army. Couldn't care less about the rest. Not much one can do about it anyway - or maybe there is - probably is - but its just too darn much trouble to worry about that level of detail.

About all the spreadsheet and numbers thing I look at is putting the best generals in charge as possible and occasionaly checking to see how much money my side has. So far that has seemed to work OKAY. I don't win glorious victories but do usually eek out a marginal - which is good enough for me. Hell I have fun even when I lose.

If I had to worry about all those damned numbers it'd stop being fun and it'd stop being played.

But then that's just me. I know there are those that live and die by the numbers (check out the DW:Universe forums sometime). That's another one I try my best to ignore the numbers - never won one though but I ain'ta gonna start looking at the numbers unless someone pays me to.
