So, I am thinking about taking the dive to a full conversion. I have played with little tid-bits and feel it's the right thing to do. I don't much care for WHAT I make, and really can't decide so.

I was wondering, what sort of well done mods would you all like to see? Perhaps something 100% Orginal, or some fan-mod of another series? Anything you guys can dream up, let me know, and I will get to it.

I think that there already alot of ambitious projects on this forum, its better, as been said by Icemania, to cooperate and improve
There are few that are going on:
Icemanias AI mod - well thats its massive improvement to ai performance and some balance in game
Unforeseen/Lurchi research on research - very ambitious projects on overhauling tech tree
My project of Alien Immersion/Beyound Universe in collaboration with Ergie - which focuses on even more variety/customisation , immersion, original per chararcter art, racial ship names, alot of design and variety.
All this on base of Haree78 extended mod with Das Chrome.
All of those combined = my dream mod.
I personally not interested in total conversions (like WH/Star Trek), i just dream about game that have immersive gameplay, huge variety and flavor of different races and approaches, huge replayability , depth. If you like it you can join to any of those with your ideas /help. All they are very ambitions and will surely benefit from some new creative ideas.

I am a fan of the Starfleet Universe. Right now I am working through the races. Then making a map. once that is done I will start posting the mod. Research will like depend on the new Expanded research project ( with small tweaks to weapons ). I can't decide if I want to use some retro graphics or get Igard to let me use his work.


My Second project would be to use Start Control as the basis for a Theme. specifically SC2 and a couple of races from the SC3 ( certainly the daktaklakpak, and maybe one other ) The project would require a complete overhaul of weapons and ship systems in order to reflect the wildly different race tactics and designs.

I would also like to see more Role Play oriented mods (precon maps) with specific and small goals in order to encourage small play times. say 1 or 2 hours missions.

We could use a few more races, most of the race mods that were meant to compliment extended seem to have fallen out of the universe. Blackstork is working on one atm, but it can never hurt to have more to choose from.

The thing that races need very different game play from races from current vanilla+extended pool.
I found 10 very different ones, which still need alot of mechanics and modding done, goverments overhauled, and adding alot of custom characters into the game (imagine increased impact from characters , where your characters and their perks also matter) - al that in order to justify their existance not only as flavor, but as variety to gameplay.
For example new avian race will close hole of non existant warrior+spy race, with ver ydeep 3 house rivalry mechanic, making its impact from tech tree special techs, special goverments (3 special goverments for each of their houses) and alleged characters.

I could gladly have help with those 10, they are very different, and we are working on deep character/goverment/naming system, which will allow to add more difference and veriety of gameplay for different races.

I don't know what is possible with the modding tools but I would love to see a race or mod that allows you to have expanded diplomacy with the pirates to the point of retaining them in the same capacity as you would a Defensive Pact ally. Sort of a 'Pirate Lord' race or government type. The playstyle would be a mix between traditional empires and pirates. Essentially an evil race (or government style) that aligns itself deeply with the pirates.

As far as total conversion, I would love to see a mod that turns all the races into a gaming franchise from Japanese Shmup/Bullet Hell style games. For example a Gradius race, a Raiden race, a Garegga race, a Dodonpachi race, a Galaga race, you get the idea. The idea of massive fleets of these Shmup ships shooting each other up fills me with glee!

Also, I fully support Blackstork with his total mod unification conversion mod. This should ultimately be the definitive mod for pure play quality! I'm fairly new the game so I may not be very helpful in testing the mod but I will certainly offer any feedback where I can.

So kind of like a cartel government that safely employs pirates, smugglers and terrorists?

There was another interface mod in the works awhile back that i was watching but it was suddenly abandoned without a word.

Yes. I mean imagine how much the game could open up if you could really ally with and have more control over the pirates yet still be playing as an empire. My only fear is that it could horribly unbalance the game so it might be more ideal to make a whole new race for this with massive penalties in other areas. A sort of 'lite version' in the form of a government type would be interesting too.

Other people may disagree with me but I think the pirates are one of the coolest and most unique parts of this game. Right now we have two main play styles: Empire and Pirates. What I'm proposing is sort of a middle path.

Currently, playing as an empire, diplomatic options with pirates are VERY limited (for a reason) but there is a lot of potential there to open up a new game style / very unique race / government type.
